We have partnered with a newly established CIRO-regulated investment dealer offering Contracts for Differences here in Toronto. We are seeking a hands-on, ambitious CFO to take ownership of the Canadian finance function. This is a unique opportunity to join a start-up operation backed by a global public company and build the finance function from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the full finance and accounting function.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Oversee CIRO/MFR and other regulatory financial reporting and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, financial controls, and tax.
- Partner with the Canadian CEO and COO on financial and commercial decisions.
- Provide reporting and insights to Group Finance and international leadership.
- Present financial information to senior leadership, the Board, and regulators.
- Manage external auditors, advisors, and other finance partners.
- Build scalable finance processes and, over time, help grow the Canadian finance team.
Requirements:
- CPA designation required.
- Approximately 7+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience.
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting background.
- Experience with regulatory reporting, ideally within an investment dealer, capital markets, financial services, or fintech environment.
- Public company experience strongly preferred.
- Canadian accounting experience required.
- Must be comfortable operating as a hands-on, stand-alone finance leader in a start-up environment.
- Strong communication and executive presentation skills.
Regulatory Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will already have completed the required CFO and PDO regulatory examinations.
