The Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) serves as a strategic leader and trusted advisor to the Chief Financial Officer, Board of Directors, and executive leadership team. The CFO provides enterprise-level leadership for the financial health, sustainability, stewardship, and long-term fiscal strategy of Jack & Jill Center.
The CFO is responsible for developing and executing financial strategies that support the organization’s mission, strategic priorities, programs, and long-term sustainability. The position provides leadership across financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, accounting and financial reporting, cash and investment management, internal controls, audit and compliance, grants and restricted funds, risk management, and financial systems.
As a member of the executive leadership team, the CFO translates complex financial information into actionable insights, strengthens organizational decision-making, and ensures financial resources are responsibly deployed to maximize mission impact. The CFO also leads the Finance function and is responsible for strengthening the team’s capabilities, systems, processes, and accountability while ensuring accurate and effective execution of day-to-day financial operations.

Primary Position Responsibilities
The CFO has lead responsibility for the financial strategy, stewardship, reporting, controls, compliance, systems, and financial operations of Jack & Jill Center. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with Jack & Jill Center’s mission, strategic plan, and long-term organizational priorities.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO, Board, and executive leadership team regarding financial performance, organizational sustainability, growth opportunities, resource allocation, and financial risk.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, scenario planning, and long-range financial planning.
- Monitor financial performance and provide meaningful analysis, dashboards, forecasts, and recommendations to organizational leadership and the Board.
- Oversee accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards and organizational requirements.
- Establish and continuously strengthen internal controls, financial policies, procedures, approval processes, and appropriate segregation of duties.
- Lead the annual independent audit process and oversee financial information required for Form 990 and other applicable regulatory filings.
- Ensure appropriate financial oversight and compliance for grants, restricted contributions, contracts, and other designated funding sources.
- Oversee organizational cash management, banking relationships, reserves, investments, liquidity, and financial asset stewardship in accordance with approved policies.
- Lead the optimization and automation of financial systems and workflows, including Blackbaud Financial Edge, to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, reporting, and management visibility.
- Identify and communicate significant financial and operational risks and partner with executive leadership to strengthen organizational resilience and long-term sustainability.
- Provide financial analysis supporting enrollment, fundraising, grants, sponsorships, events, fee-for-service activities, capital investments, program expansion, and other revenue and growth opportunities.
- Lead, supervise, coach, and develop the Finance team while establishing clear performance expectations, accountability, and effective financial operations.
- Partner across the organization to strengthen budget ownership, financial understanding, fiscal accountability, and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
Minimum Qualifications
The CFO possesses the following minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required; master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline preferred.
- CPA or other relevant professional financial certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of progressively responsible finance and accounting experience, including significant senior financial leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with nonprofit accounting, restricted funds, grant accounting, financial reporting, audit requirements, and applicable nonprofit financial and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, financial reporting, internal controls, audit management, and cash-flow management.
- Experience advising executive leadership and presenting financial information, analysis, and recommendations to a Board of Directors or Board committee.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing Finance or Accounting personnel.
- Experience leading financial-system implementation, optimization, automation, or significant financial process improvement.
- Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge or comparable nonprofit financial systems preferred.
- Experience within an education, human services, early childhood, or similarly complex mission-driven organization preferred.
- Strong strategic, analytical, leadership, communication, judgment, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- High degree of integrity and demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive financial and organizational information.
- Valid driver’s license and proper documentation to work in the United States.
- Ability to successfully complete and pass a Level II Clearinghouse Background Screening.
