The opportunity
Want to learn how a business really works, from the inside? This is a hands-on, full-time role that
touches every core part of running an organisation: operations, finance, marketing and comms,
and management.
You'll split your week between two organisations, both at an exciting point in their growth:
Luculent, a CFO practice working with a growing portfolio of businesses, and Tech4Good South
West, a regional tech for good community that keeps getting bigger. You'll work directly
alongside senior leaders, directors and the external organisations we support, with real
responsibility from early on.
If you're curious about business, entrepreneurship and social impact, this is a springboard. You'll
see more of how organisations are run than most first roles ever show you. No finance or Xero
experience needed: we'll teach you.
Who we are
Luculent gives growing businesses CFO-level financial leadership without them needing a full-
time finance director. It's run by founder and CFO Jonathan Legge and works with a growing portfolio of client businesses, mostly in the creative sector, helping them understand their numbers, plan ahead and make confident decisions as they grow. Luculent also provides financial oversight to Tech4Good South West. It's a chance to see how a CFO thinks, and what good financial management looks like across lots of different businesses.
Tech4Good South West is a Community Interest Company and a growing regional community of
more than 150 member organisations, led by CEO Annie Legge. Tech4Good South West is a place-based community connecting charities, purpose-led and regional businesses, and skilled people to solve real problems and build digital confidence across the region.
Both organisations are growing, which makes this a great time to join. You'll help shape how
things are done, not just follow an existing process. You'll be based with us in a co-working
space in Bath.
What you'll do
Roughly half your time is with Luculent, working alongside its founder and CFO on the finances
of a portfolio of client businesses and supporting the CFO work Luculent does for them. The
other half is with Tech4Good South West, supporting the CEO and wider director team on
operations, events and comms. We'll flex the balance week to week.
Finance and client support (Luculent)
- Work alongside Luculent's founder and CFO, getting hands-on with the finances of a portfolio of client businesses
- Keep the books accurate in Xero: processing invoices, reconciling bank accounts and chasing client teams for missing invoices and receipts
- Help prepare the management accounts, cash flow forecasts and reports that client directors use to run their businesses
- Support CFO-level work such as budgeting, forecasting and board meeting preparation, and see how financial advice turns into real business decisions
Operations and events (Tech4Good South West)
- Support the CEO in an operational capacity, keeping the day-to-day running of the organisation on track
- Help run our seasonal events, online and in person: logistics, hosting the tech and making people feel welcome
- Keep our processes, lists and tools organised so things run smoothly
Marketing and comms (Tech4Good South West)
- Support the team to plan and deliver comms for our events, from the build-up to the follow-up
- Support the team to shape and run our content calendar
Working with senior teams and partners (both)
- Join client and partner meetings, capture notes and take actions forward
- Support contact with Tech4Good South West members
- Work confidently with directors, board members and client teams
Throughout, you'll use AI and automation tools and be encouraged to find smarter ways of
working.
