Job Description: Vice President of Sales Operations - B2C Vertical (EdTech)
Job Summary
The Vice President of Sales Operations in EdTech is a key leadership role responsible for optimizing the sales processes, tools, and analytics to drive the company’s growth in the education technology sector. This role requires a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the EdTech space, ensuring that the sales team is well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of educational institutions, educators, and learners. The VP of Sales Operations will work closely with senior leadership to develop strategies that align with the company’s mission to transform education through technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement a sales strategy tailored to the education market, focusing on both skilling, working Professionals and higher education sectors.
- Lead the annual sales planning process, including quota setting, territory management, and resource allocation specific to the EdTech landscape.
- Identify market trends, customer needs, and opportunities for growth within the education sector.
- Sales Operations Management:
- Oversee all aspects of sales operations, including CRM management, sales process optimization, and sales analytics with a focus on the EdTech industry.
- Ensure accurate sales forecasting and pipeline management tailored to the academic sales cycle.
- Standardize sales processes, methodologies, and best practices that resonate with educational buyers.
- Manage and develop the sales operations team, ensuring they are aligned with the unique demands of the education market.
- Sales Enablement:
- Work with the sales enablement team to provide the sales force with the necessary tools, content, and training specific to the EdTech sector.
- Implement and manage EdTech-specific sales technologies, including CRM, LMS integrations, and analytics tools.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve sales productivity and effectiveness in the education market.
- Data and Analytics:
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that provide visibility into key sales metrics and performance in the education sector.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities specific to the EdTech market.
- Collaborate with finance and product teams to ensure alignment between sales forecasts, financial targets, and product development in the EdTech space.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with marketing, product, and customer success teams to ensure sales strategies are aligned with overall company objectives in the EdTech market.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between sales and other departments to enhance the customer experience in educational settings.
- Lead initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and retention among educational institutions and educators.
- Leadership and Development:
- Mentor and develop the sales operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in EdTech.
- Stay current with industry trends, educational policies, and best practices to ensure the sales operations function remains competitive in the EdTech sector.
- Represent the sales operations function at executive meetings and provide strategic input on company decisions related to the education market.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Education, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in sales operations, sales management, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within EdTech or a related industry.
- Proven track record of driving sales process improvements and delivering results in the education sector.
- Strong understanding of CRM systems, sales analytics tools, and sales enablement technologies relevant to EdTech.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically while executing tactically, with a deep understanding of the education market.
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth EdTech environments.
