Department: Sales & Trade Counter Operations – Specialist Construction Products
Location: Leeds
Reports To: Branch Manager
Job Purpose:
Develop the skills and experience needed to manage the operations of construction products across a sales, trade counter and warehouse environment. This role combines hands-on training in sales, and trade counter and warehouse operations, focusing on providing clients with the highest level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Trade Counter Management:
- Support daily trade counter operations, ensuring excellent customer service.
- First-line customer phone support across all aspects of the branch.
- Handle customer enquiries, product advice, and order processing.
- Monitor and manage stock levels at the trade counter to meet customer demand.
- Collaborate with sales teams to promote new or high-demand products.
Logistics and Distribution:
- Coordinate the timely delivery of orders to customers and sites.
- Work with logistics teams to optimise delivery routes and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations for construction materials.
Warehouse Operations:
- Responsible for unloading of incoming stock both by hand and by forklift.
- Ensure efficient inventory management, including stock control and regular audits.
- Accurate picking and packing of daily stock orders.
- Loading of daily sales orders onto the company vans for dispatch.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse environment.
- Assist with the implementation of health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Operational Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes and improve efficiency.
- Contribute to the implementation of new technologies and systems for inventory and order management.
- Assist with performance tracking and reporting for both warehouse and trade counter operations.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team and customer interaction.
- Proven time management skills and the ability to take ownership of tasks.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and ordering/stock management systems.
- Clean drivers licence and the ability to drive long wheel based vans
- Forklift or similar equipment operation certification (training provided).
Desirable:
- Familiarity with health and safety standards in a warehouse environment.
- Experience or knowledge of construction products or trade counter operations.
- A degree, diploma, or relevant experience in logistics, operations, or retail management
