Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Colville Fuels LLC is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our retail operations, ensuring financial health, and providing strategic financial guidance to optimize profitability. The CFO will lead budgeting, financial planning, cash flow management, and strategic decision-making to drive sustainable growth and improve financial performance across our retail fuel and hospitality locations.

This role involves analyzing key financial metrics, including sales trends, inventory management, and customer behavior, to make data-driven decisions that optimize retail operations and profitability. The CFO will collaborate closely with departments such as merchandising, marketing, and operations to ensure financial strategies are aligned with overall business goals.

In addition to financial oversight, the CFO will ensure that all activities comply with federal, state, and Tribal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, safeguarding both legal compliance and financial integrity while upholding the values and mission of Colville Fuels LLC.

Essential Functions:

Financial Strategy and Leadership:

Drive the formulation and execution of long-term financial strategies that align with Colville Fuels LLC’s overarching goals, ensuring sustainable financial growth and operational success.
Lead key strategic initiatives that support business expansion, enhance profitability, and solidify the company’s position in the market.
Serve as a trusted financial partner and strategic advisor to the CEO, Colville Fuels Board of Directors, and the Colville Business Council, providing guidance on complex financial matters and aligning financial practices with organizational and Tribal objectives.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Spearhead the development and preparation of accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards, regulations, and policies to maintain financial transparency and accountability.
Oversee the budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting processes, aligning financial resources with the company’s goals and ensuring efficient use of funds to maximize profitability.
Continuously monitor and assess financial performance, comparing actual results with projections, and taking proactive measures to ensure that financial goals and targets are consistently met.

Financial Operations:

Manage the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger, ensuring all financial activities run smoothly and in line with company objectives.
Implement and maintain a system of internal controls to safeguard Colville Fuels LLC’s financial assets, ensuring integrity and mitigating risk.
Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and review of financial contracts, ensuring all agreements support the company’s strategic direction and long-term financial health.

Reporting and Compliance:

Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, strictly adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, reinforcing Colville Fuels LLC’s commitment to financial transparency and regulatory adherence.
Actively engage with external auditors to facilitate audit processes and guarantee the accuracy of financial reporting.
Lead proactive compliance initiatives, ensuring the organization consistently meets financial, tax, and industry regulations while maintaining the highest standards of accountability.

Risk Assessment and Management:

Identify and mitigate key business risks by implementing effective risk management frameworks that safeguard the organization’s financial health.
Oversee the design and execution of comprehensive insurance programs to ensure appropriate coverage for company assets and operations.
Advise the CEO, Board of Directors, and other leadership on the financial implications of business activities and strategies to drive informed, strategic decisions.

Investment and Asset Management

Optimize the organization’s investment portfolios through strategic planning and management, ensuring sustainable returns that contribute to the overall financial health of Colville Fuels LLC.
Lead the evaluation, negotiation, and management of acquisitions, mergers, and dispositions, ensuring alignment with strategic growth objectives and financial performance targets.
Implement sound asset management strategies to maximize returns, mitigate risks, and support business expansion efforts across various sectors of the organization.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Provide stakeholders, including the CEO, Board of Directors, and Fuels Management, with transparent financial reporting, offering clear insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, investors, and other key stakeholders, ensuring the alignment of financial interests with Colville Fuels LLC’s objectives and values.

Represent the organization’s financial interests in negotiations, partnerships, and community engagements, strengthening Colville Fuels LLC’s presence and influence within the industry.

Team Leadership and Development:

Develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team that is aligned with the organization’s goals, ensuring exceptional performance and accountability.

Provide timely, tailored financial reports and analyses as requested by the CEO, Board of Directors, or the Colville Business Council, addressing specific inquiries or business needs.
Ensure that all ad hoc reports are comprehensive, easily understood, and provide actionable insights that support both strategic and community-focused decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred; OR Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline with at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, ideally within the retail fuels, hospitality, or related industry sectors.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Extensive experience in senior financial managerial positions, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Proven expertise in financial planning, analysis, and strategy to enhance organizational performance and profitability.
Strong knowledge of tribal governance, fiscal policies, and financial management practices related to Native American enterprises.
Five (5) years of management-level experience in accounting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and financial efficiency.

Physical Requirements:

Most work is performed in a professional office setting and is sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than 40 lbs.
