About the Role

AED Stratecon is seeking an experienced Business Operations professional to serve as both Controller and Project Manager. This position plays a key role in managing company financials, compliance, and project execution. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of accounting, leadership, and operational experience in a government contracting environment. This role may be based at our Baton Rouge home office or worked remotely with frequent travel to Home Office, depending on qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee/Perform all accounting operations, including budgeting, forecasting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Manage month-end and year-end closings, journal entries, and reconciliations.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Develop, monitor, and manage annual operating budgets and financial plans.
Ensure compliance with U.S. Government and Department of State (DOS) contract requirements.
Prepare audit documentation, indirect rate calculations, and cost proposals.
Oversee banking relationships, cash management, and expense controls.
Maintain and improve internal financial controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
Support business development through pricing strategy and cost analysis.

Plan, coordinate, and manage multiple projects to ensure on-time and within-budget completion.
Develop project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work.
Track project milestones and deliverables using Viewpoint/Vista ERP systems.
Coordinate communication among clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Monitor and report on project performance, identifying risks and mitigation strategies.
Review and approve contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
Oversee procurement, logistics, and contract compliance.
Maintain accurate project documentation, financial records, and reports.

Partner with executive leadership on long-term financial and operational strategies.
Identify process improvements and implement best practices across business functions.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to finance and administrative staff.
Lead efforts to standardize project reporting and cost control systems.
Support HR and compliance initiatives related to onboarding, policies, and systems.
Serve as a point of contact for auditors, vendors, and government representatives.
Represent AED Stratecon professionally with clients and partners.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in finance, operations, or project management.
Experience with U.S. Government contracts and Department of State (DOS) required.
Proficiency in Viewpoint/Vista or similar ERP/financial management software.
Strong understanding of GAAP and government cost accounting principles.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business preferred.
CPA or PMP certification a plus.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Current Top-Secret Clearance or ability to obtain.
