Role Overview:
The Senior Tax Manager and CFO will be an integral part of our firm, ensuring that the financial information provided to our clients is not only accurate and timely but also delivered with exceptional service. You will oversee final tax return reviews, manage key client financial projects, and foster a culture of excellence within your team. You’ll work closely with the Vice President of Fulfillment and the CEO as well as direct reports to ensure client work is always delivered on time and with precision.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy:
- Actively participate in executive strategy sessions, quarterly reviews, and annual retreats to ensure alignment on firm-wide goals.
- Maintain continuous interaction with clients, manage expectations, and ensure exceptional client service
Tax Compliance, Review, and CFO Functions:
- Oversee the final review of tax returns, quarterly estimates, and other client tax deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
- Manage and coordinate business tax compliance and tax advisory engagements.
- Review client financial statements to ensure they align with tax strategies, financial goals, and industry best practices.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to clients on improving profitability, reducing costs, and optimizing their financial performance.
- Evaluate financial health, identify trends, and present strategic advice for increasing profitability and long-term financial growth.
- Oversee cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting activities, providing CFO-level guidance to clients on financial decision-making.
- Collaborate with clients to refine their financial strategies, aligning accounting practices with overall business goals and objectives.
- Work directly with internal team to problem solve on client projects where needed with a “no job is too small” attitude
Team Collaboration and Mentorship:
- Work closely with VCFOs and VAST Leads to manage recurring monthly projects, offer guidance, and ensure precision in financial reporting.
- Engage in team development, mentor direct reports, and support firm-wide training initiatives.
Client Collaboration:
- Contribute to the onboarding process for new clients and continue to support them by delivering financial insights and strategy that align with their goals for growth and profitability.
- Build effective long-term relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs to provide tailored services.
Key Qualifications:
- Strong CPA credentials with a deep understanding of tax regulations and compliance.
- Minimum of 10 years in public accounting with a focus on tax review and strategy.
- Extensive experience in financial statement preparation and review, ensuring accuracy and alignment with industry standards.
- Candidates with industry experience within hospitality, restaurants, breweries and wineries are strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of workpaper support ensuring complete and accurate documentation for every engagement appropriate for the complexity of the client’s needs.
- Proven ability to manage and mentor teams effectively, driving high performance and professional growth.
- Ability to explain complex financial and tax concepts in simple, clear terms tailored to the audience’s level of understanding.
- Comfortably adjust communication style to suit clients, ensuring they feel empowered and confident in making informed decisions.
