We are partnered with a fast-growing cannabis company committed to providing high-quality products and services in a rapidly evolving industry. As the company continues to expand, they are looking for a seasoned Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy and operations on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for someone who has deep expertise in financial management, especially within the cannabis or regulated industries, and is looking to contribute to a dynamic, entrepreneurial company.
As the Fractional CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business. You will work closely with the CEO, leadership team, and external stakeholders to develop financial strategies, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and manage financial operations to support growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability.
- Collaborate with the executive team to set and achieve business goals, aligning financial goals with company objectives.
- Lead annual and quarterly financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Cash Flow Management:
- Oversee cash flow and working capital management to ensure sufficient liquidity for day-to-day operations.
- Implement strategies to optimize cash flow and reduce financial risks.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the executive team and board of directors.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, in compliance with industry regulations.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
- Monitor changes in cannabis industry regulations and ensure financial practices comply with state and federal laws.
- Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., tax filings, financial reporting, licensing).
Financial Systems & Controls:
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Establish and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and reduce fraud risk.
Investor Relations & Fundraising:
- Provide financial insight and analysis for potential investors, stakeholders, and lenders.
- Assist with fundraising efforts, including preparing financial documents and presentations for potential investors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- Proven experience as a CFO or senior financial executive, ideally within the cannabis or regulated industries.
- Strong understanding of financial management, tax regulations, and compliance specific to the cannabis industry.
- Experience with financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting, with a strong analytical mindset.
- In-depth knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software.
- Excellent knowledge of financial reporting, financial analysis, and performance metrics.
- Ability to think strategically and offer actionable financial insights to drive business decisions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
