Role Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee all financial operations of Blue Trust. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO will provide overall vision, leadership, and execution of financial strategy, ensuring effective budgeting, forecasting, reporting, risk management, and compliance. This role will be responsible for developing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems that ensure regulatory compliance and sound financial decision-making. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader able to combine strategic vision with hands-on expertise to position Blue Trust for scalable long-term growth and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Develop and execute long-term financial strategies that align with Blue Trust’s Mission and long-term growth objectives.
- Provide proactive financial insights and recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors to guide decision-making.
- Monitor changes in economic, market, and regulatory environments, adapting financial strategies accordingly.
- Financial Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Direct the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, shareholder reports, tax returns, and required regulatory and governmental agency reports.
- Develop, implement, and ensure effective administration of budgeting, forecasting, billing, and reporting systems to allow leaders at the National and Branch levels to successfully manage the business while making sound financial decisions.
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes to deliver timely and actionable financial projections and performance metrics.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and operational improvements through process re-engineering and technology adoption.
- Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain a comprehensive risk management framework addressing financial and operational risks.
- Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures regarding financial controls that improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Company.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal, business registration, tax filing and financial reporting requirements, maintaining an awareness of existing and new legislation and advising management of actions and potential risks.
- Facilitate annual audit of the Company’s financial accounting practices and procedures, recommending and implementing process changes where needed.
- Capital Management & Investor/Partner Relations:
- Lead the overall capital management function, evaluating internal and external opportunities to optimize financial returns to stakeholders.
- Manage the treasury function, optimizing cash flow and liquidity management while minimizing financial risks.
- Oversee financial modeling and analysis supporting the evaluation of potential M&A opportunities, partnerships, and strategic investment decisions.
- Maintain comprehensive capital ownership records and investor/partner reporting.
- Coordinate and direct annual valuation process with external vendor.
- Leadership, Team Development & Personal Modeling
- Lead team in a manner that is consistent with Company’s EOS/Traction Operating System, Management Language, leadership principles and Core Values.
- Inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team by fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and accountability.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders to align financial objectives with overall business strategy, ensuring that efficient practices drive measurable value.
- Evidence a personal life characterized by intentionality, growth, maturity, and balance.
- Understand the financial planning philosophy and biblical basis upon which Blue Trust serves its client base and apply these principles in personal finances.
Requirements:
- Finance Expertise: Minimum 10-15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles. Demonstrated expertise within the financial services industry preferred. M&A experience preferred.

Technical & Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Advanced financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting experience. Ability to leverage technology for financial analysis and reporting.

Leadership & Communication Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a dynamic, fast-paced setting while driving high performance and accountability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present to executive, Board and equity partner audiences.

Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
