As Hercules continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team and lead our financial operations.
Job Description:
As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will serve as a key member of our executive team, providing strategic leadership and guidance on all financial matters. You will be responsible for overseeing financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury management, and risk management; helping to drive the company's financial strategy and contributing to its overall success and growth. This position requires strong leadership skills, financial expertise and a desire for challenge.
Responsibilities:
•Develop and implement financial strategies, goals, and objectives in alignment with the company's overall mission, vision, and strategic plan.
•Provide leadership and coaching to a seven-person, and possibly expanding, accounting team, including a company controller, while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
•Oversee financial planning and analysis, including budgeting and variance analysis, to support decision-making and drive business performance.
•Prepare monthly financial statements for three related entities, ensuring timely and accurate statements and other financial reports.
•Manage multi-state business registrations and compliance, business insurance and related audits.
•Monitor cash flow, liquidity, working capital management and tax obligations, optimizing cash resources and managing financial risks to support the company's financial stability and growth.
•Along with company ownership, maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including lenders, external accountants, and regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with financial covenants and reporting requirements.
• Lead the treasury function, including capital management and debt financing to maximize shareholder value and mitigate financial risks.
• Manage the job costing system including associated reporting and analysis.
• Oversee capital asset acquisitions, disposals and depreciation.
• Oversee payroll compliance
• Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations, best practices and accounting technology, and advise senior management on the potential impact on the company's financial performance and strategy.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; MBA preferred; CPA highly desired.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role. Experience in the construction industry strongly desired.
• Public accounting experience in a small to mid-sized firm strongly desired.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards, including GAAP and construction accounting.
• Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, build relationships, and develop people.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and effectively with staff, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
