Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (Energy Trading)

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive leadership team in Houston and guide our financial and regulatory infrastructure as we scale.
Role Summary
The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions including corporate finance, risk management, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. This role demands a proactive leader who can operate in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment with deep expertise in energy trading (particularly FTRs, virtuals, and bilateral contracts).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead financial strategies that support business growth and capital efficiency
- Own P&L management, trading profitability tracking, and liquidity oversight
- Implement robust financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Experience in ISO and bilateral counterparty credit risk management
- Ensure regulatory compliance with FERC, ISO/RTO settlements, and tax jurisdictions
- Partner with the CEO and COO to evaluate capital investments, cost controls, and strategic initiatives
- Manage investor reporting, audits, and banking relationships
- Lead and mentor the finance team (FP&A, accounting, settlements, and treasury)
- Work closely with trading and risk management to ensure daily performance visibility and position integrity
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred)
- 10+ years total experience, with 5+ years in an energy trading firm (energy market experience mandatory)
- Deep understanding of ISO markets (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, etc.) and related settlement/reporting practices preferred
- Strong knowledge of trade lifecycle, credit/risk controls, and position management systems
- Experience with rapid-growth environments and building scalable financial operations
- Proven leadership in high-stakes, data-driven environments
