We are assisting our client with the hiring for a Chief Financial Officer.
The CFO is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the corporation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) issued and enforced by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and other regulatory and advisory organizations. Perform tasks as requested by, and held directly responsible to, the President/CEO.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function and performance
- Monitor all corporate accounting and finance to ensure proper record of accounting data
- Initiate the development of the corporation’s financial plans and programs as a strategic partner
- Coordinate annual preparation and consolidation of the operating and fixed asset budget for the Fiscal Year
- Responsible for leading the budget process for both companies (NHS & NHDS), including but not limited to; forecasting, analyzing, and managing the operating budget of the corporation, including the preparation of the annual budget spreadsheet, review/revision of annual budgets for both companies, and education of managers regarding financial issues that impact their budgets
- Review budgets for grant proposals
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action
- Develop credibility for the Fiscal Department by providing timely and accurate analysis of budget, financial reports, and financial trends in order to assist the President and CEO, the Board, and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities
- Prepare monthly the following reports for the President, Chief Operating Officer and Finance Committee:
- Monthly Income Statements for the Corporation and its respective entities
- Balance Sheet regarding debt and cash reserves
- Aging analysis for various accounts, receivable and payable
- Review and analyze all requests for corporate financial resources for recommendation to the CEO and Finance Committee
- Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce all policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation
- Conduct the annual corporate audit for both companies, conducted by a public accounting firm, by being present during the audits and reviewing reports/findings
- Ensure adherence to the Fiscal Policy of the Corporation throughout its respective divisions
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all personnel and financial matters of the Corporation
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization; i.e., evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions, mergers, entrepreneurial ventures and pension funds, investments and strategic planning
- Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position
- Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism, which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs, and managing the loans and cash needs of both companies
- Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the Corporation may enter
- Evaluation of the Fiscal Department structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals
- Review and approve monthly reconciliations, financials, and analysis prepared by the Controller
- Coordinates with the HRD to prepare the annual 401(k) allocation spreadsheet for testing and to calculate matching dollars
- Review property taxes, 990’s, and tax returns for both non-profit corporations and all our partnerships
- Maintain current annual reporting requirements for all corporations
- Review all tax credit projects for cash flow and profitability for housing
- Ensures review and approval of payroll tax reports provided by ADP
- Coordinates the approval to transfer funds for the NHS and NHDS biweekly payrolls with HR and serves as back-up payroll processor, along with Controller, in the event both primary processors in HR are unavailable
- Coordinates with IT Systems Administrator to assess and manage potential security risks to ensure the reliability and security of NHS computer systems and data, as well as maintains a process to identify and plan for current and future IT needs of the organization
GENERAL DUTIES
- Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested
- Signs checks as authorized
- Assist divisions with financial questions and requests
- Responsible for the daily supervision of the Controller and IT Systems Administrator, and support of the accounting staff
- Be thoroughly familiar with all policies and procedures of the Corporation and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Contribute to the team effort to accomplish the Mission of the Corporation and its divisions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 3 years in a senior-level role
