CFO | PE-Backed Industrial Services Platform | Chicago
Finatal is partnering with a leading private equity firm to appoint a Chief Financial Officer for a ~$300M revenue, ~$60M EBITDA industrial services platform.
The business operates a multi-vertical, asset and operations heavy model, with national scale, and a track record of strong M&A-led growth. Following a recent period of expansion, the business is now entering a critical phase focused on integration, operational efficiency, and value creation ahead of a planned exit in the next 12–18 months.
This is a high-impact role for a proven PE CFO to partner closely with the CEO and sponsor to drive performance, improve visibility, and prepare the business for a successful transaction. The role requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution, working closely with operations to unlock margin improvement while overseeing a well-established finance team.
Responsibilities
• Partner with CEO and investors to drive value creation and prepare for exit (12–18 months)
• Lead and develop the finance function, working through an established team (VP Finance, FP&A, Controllers)
• Strengthen financial reporting, GAAP rigor, forecasting, and board-level materials
• Drive operational finance initiatives across a multi-site, asset-intensive model
• Identify and deliver margin improvement opportunities across labor, procurement, and operations
• Oversee cash flow, working capital, and banking / lender relationships
• Support ongoing M&A integration and selective growth initiatives
• Bring commercial insight into complex revenue streams across multiple service lines
Requirements
• Proven CFO experience in private equity-backed businesses
• Successful exit experience
• Background in industrial services, transportation, logistics, or other operationally complex environments
• Strong GAAP accounting foundation and financial reporting rigor
• Demonstrated success driving operational improvements and margin expansion
• Experience with M&A and post-acquisition integration
