The Opportunity
We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our senior leadership team. This individual will oversee the financial strategy and performance of all operations, providing the insight and leadership necessary to sustain long-term growth and profitability. The CFO will work closely with senior leadership to define and execute the company’s financial and operational strategy.
Scope of Role
· The CFO plays a critical role in bridging financial strategy with operational execution. This position is responsible for overseeing the financial performance of core operational functions, including sales growth, efficiency, profit margin strength, and capital projects.
· The role requires a strong understanding of internal controls, financial policies, Canadian Accounting Standards (GAAP), operational finance, and performance analytics to support strategic decision-making and drive operational efficiency.
Key Accountabilities
· Ensure solid accounting and reporting discipline through rigorous month-end reviews and year-end planning, providing leadership and stakeholders with timely, accurate financial insights.
· Week-end, month-end, and year-end analysis: delivering timely and accurate variance analysis across key operational areas to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
· Design and maintain reporting frameworks that provide visibility into operational KPIs, productivity metrics, and cost drivers.
· Monitor capital expenditures and brand-required renovations against budget, ensuring financial discipline in investment decisions.
· Coordinate with external auditors to ensure audits and review engagements are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
· Manage the payments, payroll, collections, and GST filing processes across all entities.
· Lead and develop the Finance and Accounting team, promoting a culture of high performance, accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
· Review financial systems and internal controls, implementing enhancements to ensure controls are robust and continuously optimized.
· Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes and reporting accuracy.
· Oversee the organization’s financial health, including financial planning, reporting, and cash flow management, while leading operational budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
· Ensure compliance with all requirements under agreements with lenders.
· Build strong relationships with financing and banking partners, optimizing capital structure and funding.
· Manage and optimize cash flow, including the preparation and oversight of cash flow reporting.
Knowledge and Experience
· Professional accounting designation (CPA) required.
· Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in a senior accounting or finance role; experience in the food and beverage industry is an asset.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to financial decision-making.
· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage across all levels of the organization.
