About Lexicon
You know our work even if you don’t know our name. Sonos. Swiffer. Febreze. BlackBerry.
Impossible Foods. Microsoft Azure. Vercel. Windsurf. Google Antigravity. And so much more...
For more than 40 years, Lexicon Branding has helped create the names behind products and companies that define how the world lives, works, and communicates. With 4,000+ brand names launched across 23 countries, our track record in building billion-dollar brands is unmatched.
What makes Lexicon distinctive is the way we combine creativity with science. We’ve invested over $7M in proprietary research on how the brain processes sounds and words, creating an engineering layer that enhances and informs our creative work. A global network of 100+ linguists ensures every name is credible across cultures and languages, while our legal and testing teams ensure clients only see names with real strategic potential.
Today, AI is deeply integrated into our software and creative process—accelerating insights while preserving the rigor and human intuition that define our work.
Our clients include Google, P&G, Intel, Meta and the most ambitious startups emerging from Silicon Valley. When companies need a name that will define a category or launch a movement, they come to Lexicon.
Though our impact is global, Lexicon is intentionally lean: 11 full-time employees supported by 105 linguists worldwide. Privately held and profitable, we have never laid off a single employee in 43 years. Our reputation—and our growth—comes from results, trust, and long-term client relationships.
Culture & Values
Lexicon is built on curiosity, accountability, and high performance. We hold ourselves to extraordinary standards. We don’t complete tasks—we complete missions. Everyone contributes meaningfully; no passengers. Key values:
- Go the extra mile.
- Complete the mission. We deliver results that matter—not just clever ideas.
- Clarity is power. We refine until the work is clear, compelling and unforgettable.
- Curiosity rules. We ask the hard questions and push clients to think differently.
This is a founder-led environment with high expectations and high energy. Mediocrity has no place here. Ambitious people thrive here, and the reward is seeing your work echoed in products, headlines, and culture.
The Opportunity
Lexicon is at an inflection point. After decades defining the gold standard in naming, we’re expanding with AI-powered tools, developing Phase Change (our venture arm), and deepening partnerships across technology, healthcare, and consumer products.
Demand is high, our profile is rising, and we’re taking on some of the most exciting projects in the world. With 43 years of profitability and no layoffs, Lexicon offers stability rarely seen with creative firms.
As our Business Operations Manager, you’ll ensure that client engagements run with precision and impact, freeing leadership to focus on the high-value creative and strategic work that drives the business. You’ll represent Lexicon with instant credibility to senior executives while orchestrating the details that keep projects, people, and priorities moving forward.
What this role offers:
- Work at the center of iconic brand creation alongside Lexicon's founder, David Placek.
- Shape Lexicon’s next chapter through AI integration and Phase Change initiatives.
- Be stretched, seen, and recognized. Ownership matters here.
- Grow with the business through exposure to venture work, market strategy, and leadership pathways.
As Founder David Placek says, we’re looking for someone who sees the magic of what has been built and says: “I can contribute to this. I can make it better. And I can make myself better by being here.”
This is a rare chance to stand at the intersection of creativity, science, and entrepreneurship.
The Role
We are a firm of global impact with an entrepreneurial core. We’ve created world-shaping brands, yet operate with the agility of a small team where every contribution is visible.
This role is for someone who can navigate that duality—representing Lexicon with polish and confidence to senior executives while rolling up their sleeves in a high-standards environment. You bring results-driven focus, curiosity, and adaptability, handling both strategic oversight and detailed execution. You’re a change agent who takes initiative, identifies opportunities, and delivers measurable results.
