Job Summary
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Chief Financial Officer will report to the CEO and assume a strategic role in the overall financial management of the organization. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial activities of the health center. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance and treasury, budget, and forecasting, HRSA grants management reporting and compliance, and the revenue cycle process.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance or Business required; Masters or CPA strongly preferred.
Three (3) + years of experience in healthcare financial management required.
Five (5) + years experience of progressive management in a non-profit required.
Demonstrated understanding of patient privacy rights. Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all medical, financial, and other sensitive materials, whether electronic, printed or otherwise.
Requires the ability to plan, organize and direct staff programs and activities.
Requires excellent leadership skills, business acumen and ability to effectively manage, lead and supervise a diverse multidisciplinary team of health care professionals.
Must be a visionary with mature judgment, strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
The ability to delegate responsibilities and create a climate of teamwork and accountability.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.
Must demonstrate excellent internal and external customer service skills.
Must demonstrate an understanding of the intent, and follow standards, guidelines and protocols related to achieving and maintaining certifications by outside agencies.
Must demonstrate personal and professional commitment to the mission of the Heart of Florida Health Center and its Mission Statement and the Achievement of Performance Standards of Principles of Practice.
Must have strong financial acumen, including the ability to understand financial statements and interpret reports and data.
Leadership Qualifications / Responsibilities
Responsible for the supervision and development of assigned staff departments staff, including but not limited to performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and position modifications as necessary.
Must be able to serve on interview panels and independently judge the qualifications of applicants for assorted positions as requested.
Must be able to adhere to budgetary requirements of the department, adjusting as needed to maintain accountability to the CEO.
Essential Functions
Provides leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
Ensure credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts.
Provides grants management and financial reporting to HRSA, CDC, United Way and others.
Directs and oversees all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization. (ie. Cash management, Revenue Cycle, A/P, Payroll, G.L.)
Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory action.
Establishes and maintains strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seek a full range of business solutions.
Responsible for preparation of the Annual Budget including staff oversight of process.
Manages processes for annual financial forecasts and reporting to the organization.
Provides recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance to ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
Prepares financial reporting and presents to the Board on a regular basis.
Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping all day, but may also involve long periods of sitting or computer-based work.
This employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 30 pounds.
Must be able to lift, carry and handle equipment, supplies and other work site materials according to position requirements.
