Chief Financial Officer - International Accelerator | Austin, TX
International Accelerator is a startup accelerator based in Austin, Texas that helps foreign born founders launch and scale companies in the United States. Our program combines immigration support, fractional CXO leadership, fundraising guidance, and access to a powerful global mentor and investor network to help founders build durable, venture scale businesses.
We are hiring a hands on Chief Financial Officer who will serve in a dual capacity:
- CFO and Financial Controller for the International Accelerator, and
- Fractional CFO for a rotating set of portfolio startups, typically 6-8 companies at different stages of growth.
This is an ideal role for a seasoned finance leader who enjoys building from the ground up, partnering closely with founders, and is willing to get into the details while still thinking strategically. Experience that spans controllership, FP&A, fundraising, and working with venture backed companies is highly relevant.
What you will do
For the International Accelerator (CFO / Controller responsibilities)
- Own all financial operations for the accelerator, including budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and performance reporting
- Manage relationships with external bookkeepers, accountants, tax advisors, and auditors
- Oversee monthly close, financial statements, and management reporting with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness
- Design, implement, and continuously improve financial processes, controls, and systems that can scale with the organization
- Lead annual budgeting and reforecasting cycles and provide decision support to the leadership team
For portfolio startups (Fractional CFO responsibilities)
- Build, refine, and maintain startup financial models, including revenue forecasting, unit economics, hiring plans, and runway analysis
- Help founders set up and manage accounting systems, basic controls, and reporting cadence appropriate to their stage
- Support startups in preparing fundraising materials, including investor level financials, metrics, and data room financial documentation
- Coordinate with external bookkeepers and accountants to ensure accurate books, tax readiness, and compliance for each startup
- Assist with annual and quarterly tax planning and filings in collaboration with tax professionals
- Serve as a trusted financial partner to founders, providing practical guidance on pricing, burn management, capital allocation, and scenario planning
What you bring
- 5+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including time in high growth startups or venture backed companies
- Demonstrated experience in both strategic finance and hands on controllership, comfortable owning everything from models and Board decks to the details of the close
- Strong background in financial planning and analysis, cash flow management, and building models for early-stage companies
- Proven ability to work with external bookkeepers, accounting firms, and tax advisors and to coordinate their work effectively
- Experience supporting fundraising processes for startups, including preparation of materials, financial diligence, and investor conversations
- High integrity, strong communication skills, and the ability to build trust quickly with founders and investors
- Comfort working across multiple entities at once, prioritizing effectively, and staying organized in a dynamic environment
- CPA is a plus, but not required
