Chief Financial & Operating Officer (Private Office / Family Office)
Location: Austin, TX (in-person; relocation supported)
We are a private entrepreneurial family office supporting founders and operators building and scaling technology-driven businesses. We are seeking a CFO/COO to run the financial, operational, and administrative backbone of the office and its affiliated entities.
This is a high-trust, high-responsibility role for someone who wants full ownership of complex, cross-entity operations and who thrives in fast-moving, founder-led environments.
The Role
The CFO/COO will act as the central operator across personal, corporate, and household entities, ensuring that finances, compliance, people, and projects are executed precisely and proactively. This role requires exceptional judgment, discretion, and the ability to move seamlessly between strategic planning and hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
- Oversee financial operations across multiple entities (C-corps, LLCs, personal holding structures)
- Partner with external accountants and tax advisors on filings, compliance, audits, and planning
- Build and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models
- Produce quarterly financial reviews and performance summaries with insights and recommendations
Operations & Compliance
- Manage entity formation, licensing, filings, and ongoing regulatory compliance (state and federal)
- Own expense management, cash flow visibility, and cost controls across properties and projects
- Ensure employment, payroll, and contractor compliance for all household and office staff
People & Household Operations
- Hire, onboard, manage, and oversee household and support staff (assistants, nannies, chefs, housekeepers, contractors)
- Implement background checks, policies, payroll, and performance management
- Serve as point person for sensitive HR matters
Projects & Real Assets
- Oversee residential and commercial property operations, renovations, and capital projects
- Source and manage contractors, negotiate terms, and control budgets and timelines
Investments & Special Initiatives
- Support investment sourcing, tracking, and portfolio management in coordination with advisors
- Manage philanthropic initiatives and charitable giving
- Operate incubated businesses during early stages (finance, ops, hiring) until internal teams are built
General
- Own special projects as needed
- Operate with a “no task too small” mindset — ensuring things are done correctly, even when delegated
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and discretion
About You
- 7+ years of experience in top-tier investment banking, consulting, law, private equity, or equivalent operating roles
- Exceptional financial modeling, budgeting, and reporting skills
- Deep familiarity with accounting, tax coordination, and compliance
- Strong working knowledge of corporate and employment law (JD a plus, not required)
- Experience hiring and managing teams and external advisors
- Exposure to high-net-worth individuals, complex asset structures, or family offices
- Highly organized, precise, calm under pressure, and intensely reliable
- Ambitious, hardworking, and comfortable operating long hours in a non-9-to-5 environment
