Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and act as a strategic business partner in driving operational/ project performance, financial discipline, and long-term value creation. This role requires a project-oriented finance leader, preferably experienced in EPCI environments and capable of establishing strong financial governance across complex, multi-year subsea and renewable energy projects.
The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, a strong operational background, and deep expertise in project accounting, cost control, and commercial risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Provide strategic financial direction to support company growth, capital investment, and market expansion. Participate in Board Meetings.
- Partner with the CEO and Board to develop long-term financial strategy, funding, operational plans, and performance targets.
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes across all business units and major projects.
Project & Operational Finance
- Oversee project accounting, cost management, and financial reporting for all projects.
- Implement robust project controls, including budgeting, earned value management, cash flow forecasting, and risk monitoring.
- Evaluate project profitability, contract terms, commercial risks, change orders, and claims.
Financial Management & Governance
- Ensure strong governance, compliance, and internal controls across the organisation.
- Oversee treasury, cash management, audit, tax, and working capital optimisation.
- Lead the implementation or enhancement of financial systems supporting project-based accounting and reporting.
Commercial & Contractual Support
- Provide commercial oversight on bids, tenders, JV structures, and contract negotiations.
- Analyse financial implications of contract terms, supply-chain arrangements, procurement strategy, and offshore operations.
- Strengthen commercial assurance processes across the project lifecycle.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to support organisational growth and professional excellence.
- Drive a culture of accountability, operational insight, and proactive financial decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and project management teams to ensure integrated financial performance.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- 15+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership roles.
- Proven track record in the energy-related contracting sector.
- Expertise in project accounting, cost control, WIP reporting, and complex contract management.
- Strong operational finance background with experience working alongside engineering and project management teams.
- Professional qualification: ACCA preferred (ACA, CIMA or equivalent also considered).
- Demonstrated ability to manage financial risk in complex projects.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
- Experience in organisations undergoing growth, transformation, or technology-driven change.
- Familiarity with UK and European regulatory requirements within the energy/offshore sectors.
- Experience working with IFRS and project-based ERP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP, Oracle).

Pay: £125,000.00-£150,000.00 per year
