The CFO Practice is recruiting a Chief Financial Officer for a fast-growing SME FinTech business that has developed a technology-enabled payments platform with a growing suite of value-added and subscription-based revenue streams.
With the company entering a period of accelerated development focused on commercial optimisation, acquisition and organic growth, this is a high-impact CFO role partnering closely with the CEO and Board to shape the next phase of growth.
The role
The CFO will play a central role in driving value creation, acting as a commercial and strategic partner to the CEO while building a robust, scalable finance function. The position combines M&A leadership, funding strategy and data-led commercial insight in a transaction-heavy environment.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a close strategic partner to the CEO and Executive team, supporting decision-making, value creation and long-term strategy
- Lead all aspects of finance, including FP&A, reporting, tax, treasury, governance and company secretarial matters
- Own debt funding activity to support inorganic growth, including lender and investor engagement, modelling and covenant management
- Lead M&A activity end-to-end, including target evaluation, financial and commercial due diligence, deal execution and post-acquisition integration
- Strengthen commercial insight across pricing, margins and customer economics, leveraging financial and operational data to drive profitable growth
- Own the budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes in partnership with the CEO
- Deliver timely, high-quality management accounts and statutory reporting
- Build, develop and automate a scalable, high-performing finance function capable of supporting continued growth
- Act as a senior external representative of the business with banks, auditors, advisers and key partners
About you
This role will suit a senior finance leader who thrives in commercially driven, data-rich environments and enjoys working closely with a CEO to shape strategy.
You are likely to bring:
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACA / CIMA / ACCA) and degree-level education
- Experience from data-heavy, high-transaction environments
- Exposure to M&A, either through completed deals or meaningful due diligence involvement
- Strong commercial instincts, with the ability to translate complex financial and operational data into actionable insight
- Experience building or leading an “in-control” finance function in a growing business
- Confidence operating in fast-paced, change-oriented environments
