Job Description
servicePathTM is seeking a CPQ Consultant who operates as a consultant first, configurator second.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in systems implementation and business process analysis, with the ability to rapidly learn CPQ-specific domain knowledge. This role is central to our evolution toward a consultative delivery model where specialists work directly with clients to understand business logic, capture requirements precisely, and deliver high-quality configurations.
We're looking for someone who excels at client discovery, can translate complex business processes into structured requirements, and thrives in a collaborative environment. You'll also play a key role in shaping our emerging AI-assisted tools and processes - helping build the future of how we deliver, not just executing today's workflows.
About The Job
- Job Title: CPQ Consultant
- Department: Service Delivery
- Reports to: Service Delivery Director
- Working Hours: Eastern Time Zone Business Hours - changes may be required depending on employee location to cater for clients in other regions
- Position: Full-Time, Permanent
- Location: Canada
- Location Type: Remote
- Travel: Occasional client visits may be required
Role Objectives
- Lead Client Discovery:
- Conduct in-depth requirements gathering sessions to understand client business logic, pricing models, approval workflows, and operational processes.
- Act as a trusted advisor who asks the right questions to uncover both stated and unstated needs.
- Translate Business to Technical:
- Convert complex business requirements into structured documentation using standardized templates and pattern libraries.
- Create clear, precise specifications that drive consistent configuration outcomes.
- Deliver Quality Configurations:
- Execute platform configurations that meet client requirements, follow best practices, and deliver measurable business value.
- Own end-to-end quality from requirements through testing.
- Build Reusable Knowledge:
- Contribute to pattern libraries, document edge cases, and capture implementation learnings that strengthen the collective knowledge base for future implementations.
- Shape Emerging Capabilities:
- Contribute to the development of AI-assisted tools and processes. Your implementation experience will directly inform how we evolve our delivery methodology.
Duties
- Client Consultation & Discovery:
- Lead requirement workshops and discovery sessions with clients. Understand their business processes, pricing logic, approval hierarchies, and integration needs. Ask probing questions to surface edge cases and undocumented business rules.
- Build trusted relationships as a consultative partner.
- Requirements Documentation:
- Capture requirements using structured templates that ensure completeness and consistency. Document business logic, process flows, data dependencies, and acceptance criteria in formats that enable efficient configuration and support future process automation.
- Platform Configuration:
- Execute configurations within servicePathTM CPQ+ including business rules, pricing factors, approval workflows, document templates, and data imports.
- Apply configuration patterns consistently and document deviations or novel approaches.
- Quality Assurance & Validation:
- Conduct thorough testing of configurations against documented requirements. Participate in UAT sessions with clients.
- Validate configurations against the Pattern Library to ensure adherence to best practices and identify potential anti-patterns.
- Knowledge Contribution:
- Document new patterns, edge cases, and implementation learnings. Contribute to the Configuration Pattern Library. Provide feedback that helps improve templates, tools, and processes based on real implementation experience.
- Process Evolution:
- Participate in developing and refining AI-assisted configuration tools and workflows. Your hands-on implementation expertise is essential to building effective automation that actually works in practice.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work with Product and Engineering to represent client needs during feature development.
- Collaborate with other consultants to share knowledge and maintain consistency across implementations.
Essential
Key Competency & Experience:
- Systems Implementation Experience (5+ years): Proven track record implementing and configuring enterprise business systems (ERP, CRM, CPQ, or similar). Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into system configurations.
- Client-Facing Consultation Skills: Experience leading discovery sessions, requirements workshops, and client presentations. Ability to build rapport and act as a trusted advisor.
- Business Process Analysis: Strong analytical skills to deconstruct complex business processes, pricing models, and approval workflows. Experience documenting requirements in structured formats.
- Communication Excellence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to business stakeholders and document requirements with precision.
- Logical Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex scenarios, identify root causes, and develop systematic solutions.
Core Competencies
- Structured Documentation: Comfort working with templates, pattern libraries, and standardized documentation approaches.
- Spreadsheet Proficiency: Strong skills in Excel/Google Sheets including advanced functions, data manipulation, and analysis (macros not required).
- Self-Directed Learning Ability to rapidly acquire new domain knowledge (CPQ concepts, platform functionality) through documentation, pattern libraries, and hands-on experience.
- Collaboration Tools: Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) or similar project/documentation platforms.
- AI/Automation Usage: Experience emerging AI tools and willingness to contribute to their development and refinement.
Preffered
- CPQ or Pricing Experience: Prior exposure to Configure-Price-Quote systems, complex pricing models, or quote-to-cash processes.
- CRM Platform Experience: Familiarity with Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or similar CRM platforms.
- Remote/Distributed Teams: Experience working effectively with globally distributed teams.
- Process Improvement: Track record of identifying and implementing process improvements based on implementation learnings.

- At 6 months:

Why This Role Is Different
This isn't a traditional "configurator" role where you're handed specifications and asked to build. You're a consultant who works directly with clients to understand their business, then translates that understanding into working solutions.
Your implementation experience is more valuable than CPQ-specific knowledge - we'll teach you the platform. What we need is someone who knows how to run effective discovery, ask the right questions, and document requirements precisely.
You'll also be joining at a pivotal time: we're actively developing AI-assisted tools and processes to evolve how we deliver. Your real-world implementation experience will directly shape these capabilities. This is a role where you'll help build the future, not just operate within it.
If you are an existing employee interested in applying for this role, please submit your resume and reach out to your HR representative for a confidential discussion and guidance on the next steps.
