Chief Financial Officer
At NALA Membranes, we’re building something rare — a clean, next-generation manufacturing technology that will fundamentally reshape a multi-billion-dollar industry. NALA Membranes is a startup based in Morrisville, NC in the RTP. The team has developed a new generation of chlorine stable reverse osmosis membranes and used it to create a new water treatment filter from patented materials. They are taking their first membrane filter product, targeted at industrial wastewater treatment to reduce the cost, complexity, and climate impact of advanced water treatment operations, and commercializing it for the growing market. NALA is moving rapidly to scale, pilot, and deploy their water filters into treatment applications. They are looking for individuals to contribute to the development of next-generation water purification solutions as well as help them grow manufacturing and internal testing capabilities. As the CFO, they are looking for someone with venture capital start up experience to come in and take a start up business and grow it exponentially.
NALA Membranes is looking for a Chief Financial Officer who is a strategic, results-driven manager to lead the organization's financial operations and strategy. The CFO will partner with the CEO and executive team to create, implement, and manage the company’s financial strategy. They will lead the organization's financial planning and accounting practices as well as its relationship with lending institutions, shareholders, and the financial community by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Operations & Reporting - Execute, lead and oversee organizations short-term financial strategy making sure all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, tax, real estate, insurance and cash flow management are aligned with business objectives. Ensure accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting. Assists with day to day operations such as payroll, benefits financial contributions, and budgeting for salaries and new hires. Issue monthly reports on organization's financial stability, liquidity, and growth.
- Financial Strategy and Planning - Develop and execute organizations long-term financial strategy and budgeting, aligning with business objectives and R&D pipelines
- R&D and Capital Management - Oversee capital raising, debt financing, investor relations, and grant funding. Evaluates and recommends business partnering opportunities. Establishes and maintains contacts with stockholders, financial institutions, and the investment community.
- Risk Management & Compliance - Identify, manage, and mitigate financial risks
- Leadership- Collaborate with R&D, operations, sales, and CEO to optimize cost management, pricing models, and operations efficiencies. Provide financial insights to support key operations and strategic financial decisions.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 10-14 years related experience and/or training; combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in high growth entrepreneurial companies; Bio tech or manufacturing required.
- Experience in fundraising and venture start up
Language Skills
Fluency in English is required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
