Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
The Chief Financial Officer will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, partnering closely with the CEO and senior leadership to drive financial strategy, operational rigor, and scalable growth across a dynamic, science-driven organization.
The company operates within the broader life sciences ecosystem, supporting innovative organizations advancing therapies, technologies, and regulated products. The CFO will provide financial leadership within a complex, highly regulated environment where precision, transparency, and disciplined execution are critical to success.
Position Overview
The CFO will provide strategic vision, operational leadership, and oversight of all accounting and financial planning & analysis (FP&A) functions. This executive will refine and scale a financial infrastructure that enables clear visibility into performance, supports data-driven decision making, and delivers forward-looking insights aligned with industry dynamics.
Working in close partnership with the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO will align financial strategy with corporate growth initiatives, including service and capability expansion, commercial strategy, technology investments, and strategic transactions. The role requires balancing financial stewardship with growth enablement in an evolving and performance-oriented environment.
This position will focus on enterprise-level financial leadership, systems scalability, capital strategy, and long-term value creation while ensuring excellence in day-to-day financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Executive Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on financial strategy and enterprise performance.
- Provide financial insight to support commercial strategy, pricing models, contract structuring, and strategic partnerships.
- Lead financial evaluation and execution support for strategic transactions, including acquisitions and integrations.
- Contribute to enterprise-level planning, compensation strategy, and performance management frameworks.
- Serve as primary liaison to investors, lenders, and key financial stakeholders.
Financial Infrastructure & Reporting
- Design and enhance scalable financial systems that provide timely insight into operating metrics and leading indicators.
- Oversee accounting, financial reporting, and FP&A functions in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Deliver accurate and transparent reporting to executive leadership, the Board, investors, and lending partners.
- Lead preparation of quarterly board materials in collaboration with senior management.
- Serve as key point of contact for audit and tax partners.
Operational & Growth Enablement
- Own the budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
- Drive financial discipline and accountability across business units through partnership and education.
- Enhance and enforce financial policies, internal controls, and systems to support scalability and operational effectiveness.
- Maintain and optimize enterprise financial systems to ensure data integrity and reporting excellence.
- Provide financial oversight and guidance on complex client or commercial agreements.
- Optimize treasury, banking, and capital management strategies.
Team Leadership
- Directly lead senior leaders within Controlling and FP&A, with indirect oversight of the broader finance organization.
- Build a high-performing finance function that partners effectively with operational, scientific, and commercial teams.
- Develop scalable team structures aligned with projected growth.
- Mentor and develop finance talent, fostering professional and leadership growth.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required
- CPA or CFA strongly preferred
Required Experience
- 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
- Experience operating within growth-oriented, performance-driven organizations
- Strong background in GAAP compliance, financial controls, and reporting rigor
- Demonstrated executive financial leadership experience within life sciences or other highly regulated, science-driven industries.
- Experience with enterprise ERP platforms
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with project-based or professional services revenue models
- Experience supporting strategic transactions or corporate development initiatives
- Prior M&A experience, including buy-side acquisitions, sell-side transactions, and/or post-transaction integration.
