The Opportunity
The Business Operations Consultant will be responsible for collaborating with the Operations and senior leadership team to identify and execute strategies to help the company achieve its business objectives, improve employee performance, execute on improvement initiatives, and fulfill key operational activities. You will be working closely with the COO and the Operations Manager daily, and you will be an important member of a professional team and will be instrumental in shaping the culture and success of the firm. The role requires strong judgment, a high level of ownership, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while communicating clearly and consistently with stakeholders. The Business Operations Consultant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Designing, implementing, and monitoring operations projects, business processes, and IT systems to improve functional efficiency and effectiveness within the business operations
- Supporting the development of our people and team effectiveness, including areas such as recruitment, training, performance management and workforce planning
- Own and improve business processes across recruiting and onboarding, HR/people programs, learning and development, and the implementation of software solutions (e.g., CRM)
- Developing and managing internal and external communications plans to drive operational effectiveness and to promote the business and company brand
- Produce leadership reporting and analysis, including dashboards, presentations, and written updates on operational performance, risks, and progress against initiatives
- Develop, manage, and apply AI and technology solutions to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness across core business processes.
Required Skills And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a competitive field, preferably commerce, management, finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- 1 to 3 years of experience in business operations, management consulting, internal strategy/operations, process improvement, recruiting operations, or a similar role
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google Workspace is required; experience with Python, VBA, SQL, and recruitment software suites is an asset
- Familiarity with full-cycle recruitment and understanding of HR practices is an asset
- Project management experience is an asset
- Knowledge of the Investment Banking and Financial Services Industry is an asset
- Experience supporting business operations processes, including people operations and talent programs, and managing cross-functional stakeholders is an asset
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives or projects, with strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and written & verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment that requires high initiative, minimal supervision, and an ability to address shifting priorities in a high-pressure environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with remote and geographically dispersed teams
