Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Company: Endevica Bio
Location: Northbrook IL
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
About Endevica Bio Endevica Bio is a 20-person biotech company developing breakthrough treatments for obesity, cancer cachexia, and other critical health issues. Our science recently achieved a couple of critical milestones, and we're now preparing to spin out our lead programs into a new, separate company. We're looking for our first CFO to join this spin-out entity and help navigate its path to becoming a public company.
The Opportunity This is a hands-on, ground-floor CFO role with the new spin-out company. We need someone who wants to come in and build the structure and cadence required to make public company filings correctly and timely. This is a permanent full-time position—not fractional, not temporary. We're looking for someone who will grow with the new entity as it scales.
This position is onsite in Northbrook, IL. Given the hands-on, build-from-scratch nature of this role and our small team size, in-person collaboration is essential.
What You'll Do You'll lead the spin-out company's efforts to establish governance and control structures as we orient toward the public markets. This means building and fine-tuning the accounting and reporting systems that will transform this new entity from a startup into a disciplined public company. We have a skilled FP&A resource and work with third-party accounting, tax, and audit firms, but the new company needs dedicated internal bandwidth and expertise. We are open-minded, respect our team members' domain expertise and are ready to learn/grow as we follow your lead to the next level.
You'll report to an energetic and entrepreneurial CEO and work closely with the entire team. Because we're small, everyone makes hands-on contributions. We value people who can sit down and get things done, even when that means building the airplane in the air. This won't be an easy role, but it's the right opportunity for someone who wants to be part of building something meaningful from the ground up.
What We're Looking For:
Required:
- CPA Certification
- 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience
- Direct public company experience
- Proven ability to lead teams and build financial infrastructure
- Track record of creating accounting and reporting structures for growing companies
- Experience with SAP or other enterprise ERP systems
- Experience with IPO preparation or direct IPO experience
- SEC reporting experience (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K filings)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High tolerance for ambiguity and change
Not Required, but preferred: Biotech experience—we're open to CFOs from operating companies in other industries
