We are pleased to announce the opening for a
Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will join our team in Huntsville, Alabama. The CFO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and strategic partner to the CEO and Board of Directors. As CFO, you will be responsible for the overall financial strategy, capital structure optimization, enterprise risk management, and leadership of the Finance & Accounting organization.
This role requires a seasoned executive with demonstrated expertise in Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), including repurchase obligation planning and valuation impact management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate financing and debt servicing, and building and leading high-performing finance teams in growth-oriented environments.
The CFO will ensure financial discipline, operational scalability, and long-term value creation for employee-owners.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute enterprise financial strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives.
- Lead long-range planning, forecasting, scenario modeling, and capital allocation strategy.
- Provide financial insight and recommendations to the CEO and Board to support strategic decision-making.
ESOP Stewardship
- Serve as executive sponsor for the company’s ESOP structure.
- Lead repurchase obligation forecasting, liquidity planning, and policy development.
- Partner with valuation advisors and trustees to ensure compliance, sustainability, and alignment with long-term shareholder value.
- Educate leadership and stakeholders on ESOP financial implications.
Mergers & Acquisitions
- Lead financial due diligence, valuation analysis, deal structuring, and transaction execution.
- Evaluate strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and divestitures.
- Oversee post-transaction financial integration and synergy realization.
Financing & Debt Management
- Develop and execute capital structure strategy, including debt financing, refinancing, and covenant management.
- Maintain lender relationships and manage debt servicing obligations.
- Optimize cash flow, working capital, and liquidity planning.
Government Contracting Financial Operations & Compliance
- Oversee accounting, financial reporting, tax, audit, budgeting, and internal controls.
- Establish scalable financial systems, policies, and procedures to support growth.
- Ensure GAAP compliance and adherence to all regulatory requirements including from DCAA / DMCA, the FAR and DFARS.
- Oversee indirect rate structure, forward pricing rates, and rate strategy.
- Improve program financial performance: EACs, funded backlog, burn rate, and cash conversion by contract type.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance & Accounting department.
- Build a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Align financial processes with operational and program management teams.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including senior executive financial responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience in an employee-owned ESOP organization, including repurchase obligation modeling and liquidity planning.
- Proven leadership of mergers and acquisitions transactions from evaluation through integration.
- Strong background in corporate financing, debt structuring, and covenant management.
- Experience leading and scaling a Finance & Accounting department.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience presenting to Boards of Directors and executive leadership teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience within aerospace, defense, government contracting, or engineering services industries.
- CPA, MBA, or CFA designation.
- Experience with Unanet ERP financial system.
