Position Summary
The Business Operations Analyst is a high-impact, high-visibility role serving as a key analytical and operational resource directly to PEM's President. This individual will work across the organization on cost-saving initiatives, special projects, acquisition support, and data-driven decision making. The ideal candidate is analytically rigorous, intellectually curious, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to roll up their sleeves to drive results across a dynamic real estate platform. This role offers exceptional exposure to all facets of a vertically integrated multifamily company — from operations and finance to acquisitions and strategy — and is ideally suited for a high-potential professional looking to accelerate their career in real estate and business operations.
Responsibilities
Cost Savings & Operational Efficiency
- Identify, analyze, and implement cost-reduction opportunities across property operations, vendor contracts, and overhead expenses
- Conduct spend analysis and benchmark PEM's costs against industry standards to uncover inefficiencies
- Track and report on cost-saving initiatives from inception through realized savings
- Partner with department heads to develop and monitor operational budgets and KPIs
- Support vendor negotiations and contract optimization
Acquisitions Support
- Support the President and acquisitions team in underwriting, due diligence, and financial modeling for potential multifamily acquisitions
- Compile and analyze market data, rent comparables, operating expense benchmarks, and transaction comps
- Prepare memos, executive summaries, and presentation materials for ownership
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and financial models that provide actionable insight into portfolio performance
- Analyze operational data across leasing, maintenance, collections, and occupancy to surface trends and opportunities
- Develop and automate recurring reporting processes to improve organizational visibility
- Present findings and recommendations to the President and senior leadership in a clear, concise manner
Special Projects
- Serve as a trusted resource for the President on a wide range of ad hoc strategic and operational initiatives
- Lead cross-functional projects from scoping through execution, coordinating stakeholders and holding teams accountable to timelines
- Knowledge of maintenance operations, capital project workflows, or vendor management.
- Experience supporting multi-site or national operations teams.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Real Estate, Business, Economics, or a related field
- Interest and passion for real estate
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to translate data into decisions
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to create polished deliverables for senior audiences
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter mentality with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based, with standard business hours. The environment is fast-paced and team- driven with frequent collaboration across departments.
