CORE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree (MBA, MS Finance) preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including recent responsibility for financial planning, forecasting, and operational decision support.
- Prior experience as either a Controller or CFO preferred.
- Understanding of the energy sector, hedging, derivatives, and commodity risk management.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the President, the CFO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and a strategic partner in driving the company’s growth. This individual will oversee finance and accounting while playing an active role in shaping business strategy, evaluating opportunities, and providing insight-driven decision support. The CFO will ensure strong financial planning, budgeting, and performance management processes are in place and will work closely with the President to translate financial insights into strategies that drive profitability, growth and long-term value. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Contributing to the overall strategic direction of the company and acting as an advisor to the President on financial planning and structuring, business performance measurement and analysis, investment due diligence and financing.
- Directing, maintaining, and holding full accountability of treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, and insurance.
- Overseeing and leading financial activities that support decision making at the senior executive level of the company including: internal/external reporting, financial planning/modeling, financial statement preparation/analysis, and development of strategic operating plans.
- Directing all treasury related functions including managing daily cash, loan operations, new debt issuance, interest rate swaps, structured transactions, and maintaining/restructuring debt covenants.
- Establishing and maintaining a system of accounting policies and internal controls which provide reasonable assurance regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, reliability of financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Overseeing due diligence analysis of any potential mergers, acquisitions, or equity investments.
- Managing relationships with outside vendors including but not limited to bankers, auditors, third-party administrators, and legal contacts.
- Supervising, leading, and developing current and future staff.
