A mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities and expanding access to economic opportunity is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team. This organization supports impactful programs that strengthen individuals, families, and neighborhoods through community-focused initiatives and partnerships.
The CFO will lead the organization’s financial strategy and oversight, ensuring fiscal integrity, compliance with government funding requirements, and accurate financial reporting. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will manage the accounting function, guide financial planning and budgeting, and partner with leadership to support long-term organizational sustainability and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide overall financial leadership for the organization, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements and maintaining a strong internal control environment that minimizes audit risk.
· Oversee the Accounting Department, including payroll operations, and supervise day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions.
· Review and enhance accounting procedures and internal control systems, recommending improvements to strengthen financial oversight and operational efficiency.
· Ensure timely preparation and review of quarterly financial statements on both program-specific and consolidated bases, including statements of assets, liabilities, net assets, and activities.
· Monitor program financial performance by reviewing budget-to-actual reports and advising the CEO on projected surpluses, financial risks, and strategic recommendations.
· Oversee the development and management of organizational budgets and budget modifications in collaboration with department leaders.
· Manage relationships with external auditors and ensure timely preparation of required financial reports, schedules, and IRS Form 990 documentation.
· Present financial updates and organizational financial performance to the CEO, Board of Directors, and relevant committees while identifying opportunities for financial growth and program expansion.

Qualifications & Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
· 15+ years of experience, including leadership responsibility
· CPA designation highly preferred.
· Familiarity with DSS/DHS/HRA contracts and related reporting requirements strongly preferred.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience developing financial spreadsheets and reports.
· Superior analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with senior leadership and stakeholders.
