MERJE are working with a UK based Fintech organisation to find a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer to lead the financial operations of their organisation in a regulated environment.
Reporting to the CEO and the board, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and strategic alignment with business objectives.
The successful candidate will operate at board level, providing critical financial insights while navigating the intersection of finance, compliance, and technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company goals
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making
- Lead budgeting processes and resource allocation
- Build financial models and forecasts to guide business decisions
- Ensure accurate, timely reporting to the FCA and relevant authorities
- Deliver financial insights to senior leadership and the board
- Maintain compliance with FCA regulations and accounting standards
- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Communicate risk insights at board level
- Oversee liquidity, cash flow, and treasury policies
- Optimise financial resource allocation
- Lead internal and external audit processes
- Establish strong financial controls and governance frameworks
- Act as a key advisor to the executive team
- Align financial strategy with organisational objectives
- Evaluate and implement financial technologies to enhance efficiency
- Collaborate cross-functionally on system improvements
- Manage relationships with investors and stakeholders (where applicable)
- Communicate financial performance and strategy
- Develop and mentor the finance team
- Build capability and ensure high performance
- Oversee safeguarding processes and reconciliation of funds
- Work closely with Operations, IT, and auditors
- Operate under FCA SMF2 – Chief Finance Officer Function
- Ensure compliance with FCA Handbook requirements (SUP, SYSC)
- Maintain robust accounting policies and reporting standards
- Uphold governance and regulatory reporting obligations
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or senior finance leadership role
- Strong knowledge of FCA regulations and regulated financial environments
- Experience from within Financial Services / Regulated Industry
- Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Expertise in financial reporting, risk management, and compliance
- Experience working at board/executive level
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of financial systems and emerging FinTech solutions
