Job Description
As a Principal Deal Desk Analyst at QAD, you will play a critical role in leading the end-to-end process of deal structuring and contract management. You will oversee deal strategy and operations, and manage complex deals globally. It would also include collaborating with cross-functional teams, sales reps and contributing to the development and implementation of deal desk processes and systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with Certina, Salesforce, and Netsuite, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in deal execution. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of contract terms, excellent communication, pricing strategies, and approval workflows as well as excellent communication.
DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Contract Review:
Conduct meticulous reviews of Statements of Work (SOW) and contracts to ensure precision, compliance, and alignment with QAD's policies (incl. Revenue recognition).
Effectively communicate strategic insights and recommendations to enhance contractual efficiency and mitigate risks.
Engage collaboratively and communicate proactively with legal and sales teams to address and resolve complex contractual issues.
Discounting and Pricing:
Evaluate pricing strategies and discounts through a strategic lens based on company guidelines (CTAP) and market conditions.
Act as a trusted advisor, leading discussions and providing expert guidance to sales and services teams on pricing structures that optimize profitability and align with long-term business goals.
Approval Workflow:
Implement and manage a robust approval workflow for deals, exercising leadership to ensure timely approvals from all necessary stakeholders. Monitor approval workflow in Salesforce.
Leverage strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively communicate with key decision-makers to expedite the approval process and resolve bottlenecks, demonstrating a results-oriented approach.
Customer and QAD Signatures:
Oversee the end-to-end facilitation of the signature process with customers and internal stakeholders.
Ensure meticulous documentation and compliance with legal requirements for customer and QAD signatures, showcasing attention to detail and regulatory acumen.
Engagement Setup in Certina:
Lead detailed reviews of engagement setups in Certina, ensuring comprehensive and accurate data entry.
Collaborate seamlessly with Services Operations to troubleshoot and resolve any challenges related to engagement setup, playing a crucial role in maintaining operational excellence.
Closely work with the billing team to ensure any issues or questions with invoices on engagements are resolved timely.
Reporting:
Track the status of each applicable opportunity, providing high-level, clear communication to the Deal Desk Manager and the Pricing, Revenue Recognition, and Finance of the status of deals during weekly status calls, and incorporating any feedback or direction from these internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education/Licenses: Bachelor’s degree-equivalent in Accounting, Information Systems/Technology, or Finance.
Experience:
8+ years of progressive experience in Deal Desk, Revenue Operations, Finance, or a related field within the X-as-a-Service industry (SaaS, IaaS, or PaaS), specifically managing complex, global deals.
OR
10+ years of Tech Revenue Accounting, Strategic/Management Consulting, or a comparable role with a focus on deal structuring and compliance. Experience above can offset education.
Computer skills: MS Office Suite, CRM (SugarCRM or Salesforce), Zoom/Google Meet/Video Conference software. Preferable: Google Suite, Advanced proficiency in CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) tools.
Other knowledge or skills:
Strategic Communication & Influence: Exceptional, executive-level written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to present complex deal structures and financial insights to senior leadership and sales representatives.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to act as a primary strategic liaison to the global Sales organization and cross-functional teams (Legal, Finance, Services), driving collaboration and consensus on non-standard deal terms.
Complex Problem-Solving: Advanced critical thinking, decision-making, and project management skills to independently navigate unpredictable deadlines and resolve bottlenecks in the deal approval workflow, particularly during quarter/year-end. -
Detail-Oriented Compliance: Demonstrated keen attention to detail and a results-oriented approach to ensure compliance with global customs, cultural working styles, and internal revenue recognition policies.
Mentorship and Process Improvement: Experience in mentoring junior team members and leading initiatives to define, document, and improve Deal Desk processes, standards, and training materials.
