Chief Finance Officer
My client is seeking a Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to drive financial strategy, lead transformation, and deliver excellence across all financial operations.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer you will hold overarching strategic leadership for the Council’s finance functions — from budget and treasury oversight to revenues, benefits, welfare services, and debt recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Lead, direct and report on the Council’s budget, treasury management, and all core financial monitoring activity.
- Provide strong strategic guidance to ensure financial stability, transparency and long‑term sustainability.
Transformation & Project Delivery
- Take ownership of a major element of the Council’s Financial Improvement and Transformation (FIT) Plan).
- Ensure objectives are delivered on time, embedding efficient, effective and compliant statutory and operational services.
Insight & Reporting
- Produce high‑quality strategic papers and monitoring reports to inform decision‑making at Corporate Management Team, Cabinet and Council level.
- Enable robust scrutiny through clear, evidence-based insights.
Stakeholder & Member Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Members, senior managers and corporate leaders.
- Act as a trusted advisor across the organisation, ensuring alignment of financial strategy with wider corporate priorities.
External Partnerships
- Develop and enhance strategic partnerships with external bodies, professional networks and peer councils.
