We are partnering with a rapidly growing construction company that is investing heavily in its leadership infrastructure as it scales operations. The organization is seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial function during a critical growth phase.
This executive will oversee all financial operations while helping to shape the company’s long-term strategic direction. The CFO will ensure strong financial reporting, operational discipline, and scalable financial infrastructure to support continued expansion. The role requires deep expertise in construction accounting, strong leadership capability, and the ability to partner closely with executive leadership on growth initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines technical accounting excellence with strategic finance capabilities, bringing experience in financial planning, operational metrics, and potentially mergers and acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, helping guide the company’s strategic growth initiatives.
- Develop and execute financial strategies that support expansion, operational efficiency, and long-term profitability.
- Provide financial insight and decision support to the CEO and senior leadership on major business initiatives.
- Build scalable financial infrastructure to support a growing and evolving organization.
- Oversee all financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with GAAP.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Ensure proper application of construction accounting standards, including:
- Percentage-of-completion accounting
- Work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
- Job costing and project profitability analysis
- Manage external audits, tax advisors, and accounting partners.
- Develop and manage the company’s FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling.
- Establish and monitor key KPIs and operational metrics related to project performance, profitability, and cash flow.
- Provide actionable insights to improve margins, cost control, and operational efficiency.
- Lead relationships with lenders and financial institutions.
- Manage capital structure, financing strategies, and banking covenants.
- Support capital raises or refinancing initiatives as the company grows.
- Participate in evaluating acquisition opportunities as part of the company’s growth strategy.
- Lead or support financial due diligence, valuation analysis, and deal structuring.
- Assist with post-acquisition integration planning, including financial systems, reporting, and operational alignment.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.
Requirements
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) required
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience
- Significant experience within construction, engineering, or project-based industries
- Deep knowledge of:
- GAAP
- Percentage-of-completion accounting
- Work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
- Experience leading monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Proven ability to build and manage finance teams
- Strong financial reporting, operational finance, and leadership capabilities
- Prior CFO or senior finance leadership experience
- Experience supporting high-growth organizations
- M&A experience, including:
- Financial due diligence
- Evaluating acquisition targets
- Post-acquisition integration planning
- Strong background in strategic finance and FP&A
