Position Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the strategic direction, management, and control of all financial activities of the organization. The CFO oversees financial planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and reporting to ensure the association’s financial health and sustainability. This role is critical in providing financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making by the CEO and Board of Directors. The CFO is a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Duties

Develop and implement financial strategies to support the association’s goals and objectives.
Lead the financial planning and analysis process, including long-term financial forecasting and modeling.
Oversee the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with the association’s strategic plans.
Present financial reports to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operations.
Oversee employee benefits and payroll processing.
Coordinate legal and contract matters.
Oversee grant tracking system maintenance.
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, accounting standards, policies, and SOPs.
Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Direct the development of all necessary reports and work associated with the annual audit by outside independent certified public accountants, working with audit staff to ensure that the association’s financial status and procedures are reported accurately and timely.
Work closely with the investment managers to ensure compliance with the Board approved Investment Policy.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
At least five years accounting/finance experience working in a non-profit 501c3 organization in a leadership role.
Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting standards, and compliance requirements.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in financial management software and systems.
Ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
