Position Overview
B2U is seeking an experienced, commercially oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the company’s financial strategy and help scale its finance and capital markets capabilities.
The CFO will serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and executive leadership team, with responsibility for corporate finance, project finance, financial planning and analysis, capital strategy, investor relations, financial modeling, risk management, and the development of scalable financial infrastructure.
This role requires an executive who understands energy infrastructure, BESS, renewable energy, project finance, structured finance, and institutional capital and can operate effectively in a high-growth environment.
The CFO will play a central role in evaluating projects, structuring financing, supporting acquisitions and development opportunities, managing investor relationships, and preparing the company for its next stage of growth.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Finance & Strategy
•Develop and execute B2U’s overall financial strategy in partnership with the CEO and leadership team.
•Lead long-term financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and corporate financial analysis.
•Establish financial models and reporting infrastructure that support rapid growth and informed decision-making.
•Evaluate corporate investments, strategic opportunities, acquisitions, partnerships, and new markets.
•Provide the CEO and Board with clear financial analysis, recommendations, and decision-support materials.
•Establish appropriate financial controls, policies, processes, and reporting as the organization scales.
Project Finance & BESS Development
•Lead financial strategy and structuring for BESS development and operating projects.
•Build and oversee project-level financial models incorporating project costs, revenues, operating assumptions, tax incentives, financing structures, and returns.
•Evaluate project economics, including IRR, NPV, cash-on-cash returns, debt service coverage, and sensitivity analyses.
•Support project acquisitions, development opportunities, PPAs, tolling agreements, capacity/revenue structures, and other commercial arrangements.
•Partner with Development, Engineering, Operations, and Business Development to evaluate project feasibility and investment returns.
•Lead financing strategies for projects across applicable energy markets.
•Develop financing structures that optimize project and corporate capital while balancing risk and return.
Capital Markets & Fundraising
•Develop and execute capital-raising strategies across equity, debt, project finance, structured capital, and strategic investment.
•Build relationships with institutional investors, infrastructure funds, private equity firms, banks, lenders, family offices, and other capital providers.
•Lead due diligence processes associated with financings, investments, and strategic transactions.
•Prepare investor presentations, financial models, data rooms, investment materials, and Board-level materials.
•Partner with the CEO on investor communications and fundraising strategy.
•Evaluate and negotiate financing terms, capitalization structures, and strategic investment opportunities.
Responsibilities may include:
•Developing financial and operating models for infrastructure investment vehicles.
•Supporting the formation and capitalization of project and fund structures.
•Evaluating fund economics, management structures, and investment returns
•Supporting relationships with institutional and strategic capital partners.
•Establishing financial reporting and performance measurement for investment entities.
Financial Planning & Analysis
•Develop annual budgets, rolling forecasts, cash-flow forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
•Establish meaningful financial KPIs and dashboards for executive leadership.
•Monitor project and corporate cash requirements.
•Analyze financial performance against plan and identify opportunities, risks, and corrective actions.
•Provide scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.
Accounting, Controls & Risk
•Oversee accounting and financial reporting, working closely with internal resources and external accounting partners.
•Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
•Establish appropriate internal controls and financial policies.
•Oversee cash management, treasury, tax planning, insurance, and financial risk management.
•Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, lenders, and other professional advisors.
•Ensure compliance with applicable financial and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
•12+ years of progressive finance experience, including significant senior leadership experience.
•Experience as a CFO, VP Finance, Managing Director, or comparable senior finance executive.
•Strong experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, energy, renewable energy, BESS, power, or related industries.
•Demonstrated experience raising capital and working directly with institutional investors and lenders.
