We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our growing automotive dealership group. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for driving financial performance, ensuring robust controls, and supporting business expansion across the UK and selected European markets.
The ideal candidate will bring deep automotive industry experience (minimum 10 years), strong financial leadership, and the ability to partner closely with operational teams to deliver growth and profitability.
Strategic Finance & Leadership
- Act as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to overall business strategy
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting across multiple dealership sites
- Provide commercial insight to support growth, pricing, and investment decisions
- Support expansion into new markets, including Europe
Financial Control & Reporting
- Oversee monthly management accounts, financial reporting, and performance analysis
- Ensure accurate, timely reporting and compliance with UK and international standards
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls and governance frameworks
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and funding requirements
Budgeting & Performance Monitoring
- Lead annual budgeting process and ongoing reforecasting
- Monitor KPIs across sales, aftersales, and operational departments
- Identify risks and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations
Operational Finance
- Work closely with dealership GMs and department heads to improve financial performance
- Drive cost control, margin improvement, and operational efficiency
- Oversee stock financing, vehicle funding, and manufacturer relationships
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the finance team (including Financial Controllers and Accountants)
- Build a high-performance culture with clear accountability and communication
- Improve systems, processes, and reporting capabilities
Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years’ finance experience within the automotive / dealership industry
- Proven experience as a Finance Director, CFO, or Senior Financial Controller
- Strong commercial acumen with hands-on operational finance experience
- Experience in multi-site dealership environments (preferred)
- Knowledge of vehicle financing, stock management, and OEM relationships
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working across multiple countries or European markets is highly desirable
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent) qualification preferred
