KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will partner with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Leadership Team, and the Board of Directors to lead the company toward strategic growth, expansion, and innovation, driving both top and bottom-line growth. The CFO will significantly influence the company's strategic and operational initiatives, ensuring that the CEO, Board of Directors and other leadership team members receive accurate, timely, and relevant financial data.
The CFO will lead all financial functions of the corporation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other regulatory and advisory organizations, and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the industry.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization’s financial function and performance, leading finance team members and working with other company leaders outside the finance group.
- Play an essential role as a member of the leadership team by bringing a financial point of view to all business discussions to deliver on corporate goals.
- Communicate clearly to other leadership team members and board members, a point of view based on a complete and concise analysis of financial information and other key data points.
- Proactively engage with other leadership team members to determine and lead the best path to achieve strategic growth goals, including acquisition of key customers, optimization of labor utilization and pricing structures, and realization of synergistic acquisitions.
- Determine, establish, and lead key financial and operational metrics review sessions with leadership team members that enable fulfillment of long-term strategic growth goals
- Lead long-range planning in terms of growth, profitability, capabilities, overhead, etc.
- Lead efforts in determining optimal capital structure (debt vs. equity) and evaluating all potential acquisitions and other strategic investments.
- Provide actionable financial insights to support strategic decisions by evaluating financial performance and comparing and analyzing actual results with plans.
Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting, and Accounting & Controls
- Lead the development of the organization’s long-term financial strategy by aligning financial planning with business objectives while forecasting future financial performance.
- Review and revamp financial and operational processes to create higher efficiencies, automation and enhanced effectiveness
- Work closely with each business unit leader to create, manage, and communicate key metric departmental dashboards that ensure optimization of each functional area of the business
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements along with compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while ensuring proper audits with external auditors. This includes tax payments and compliance issues.
- Lead all (annual) budgeting processes and monitor progress against the budget by being able to analyze and explain variances.
- Oversee the company’s cash flow to ensure financial stability while managing banking relationships and investments by understanding liquidity and working capital needs.
- Lead relationships with lenders.
- Lead and develop the finance team while also building financial acumen across the organization and collaborating with other leadership team members to drive business performance.
- Ensure financial systems and processes are efficient and scalable while overseeing ERP systems.
- Lead annual bonus program development and administration.
- Responsible for relationships with Board members regarding financial information and matters.
Risk Management, Compliance, and Legal/Contractual Review
- Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies, including all insurance coverage and internal controls, while leading enterprise risk management initiatives.
- Oversee and lead the relationship with outside legal counsel on all legal issues and contracts.
- Communicate financial results, plans, and strategy to the leadership team, board and company leaders and serve as a key liaison with regulatory agencies, financial institutions, and other business stakeholders.
- Lead real estate and other material lease contracts.

The CFO will foster a culture of performance, accountability, and urgency. The ideal candidate will have a history of building high-performing teams and enhancing businesses through a collaborative, energetic, and hands-on approach.
The ideal candidate should also possess, at a minimum, the following qualifications and attributes:
- Proven track record as a Chief Financial Officer or ready now CFO step-up candidate, comfortable to handle the scale and complexity of this business.
- Five to ten years of hands-on, effective management and leadership skills sufficient to coach and develop others, continually improve company performance, and demonstrate an appreciation for and understanding of operations-driven businesses.
- Strong management skills, including planning, organizing for results, leading and evaluating people, and monitoring projects for both effectiveness and efficiency.
- Skilled at process improvement and change management aimed at making a company more competitive.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, direct, coach, train, and measure the performance of assigned staff for optimal performance.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and rapport, lead, influence, and articulate change, resolve conflict, and negotiate solutions with personnel at all levels of the organization while developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to maintain current business partnerships. Interact with and, in some cases, influence customers, Board members, financial institutions, and peer managers.
- Possess financial analysis, financial forecasting, and planning skills necessary to meet position requirements.
- Strong business acumen provides an ability to assess the impact of business decisions and an ability to communicate findings to executives.
- Ability to quickly assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions, including the ability to draw clear conclusions from a diverse collection of data.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to self-direct, prioritize goals and objectives, and manage and/or effectively delegate multiple projects and responsibilities.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy and a high level of analytical proficiency.
- Possess a high degree of motivation, with a driving sense of responsibility, accountability, and responsiveness.
- Combination of large company training, combined with other private company experiences preferred.
EDUCATION
A bachelor’s degree is required; MBA and/or CPA is preferred, but not required.
