Role Overview
This position leads all functions related to customer acquisition, revenue development, marketing, and policy strategy for our client. The Chief Revenue Officer is responsible for evaluating and advancing revenue opportunities to ensure they deliver strong financial performance and align with defined return and risk criteria, while supporting our client’s broader business objectives. This individual will have end-to-end ownership of revenue performance, guiding sales and marketing initiatives to accelerate growth, optimize profitability, and mitigate commercial risk.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and oversee the Origination and Marketing teams
- Design and execute revenue and product strategies that enhance profitability, including direct sales and acquisition initiatives
- Develop consistent client outreach approaches and ensure alignment across all sales channels
- Continuously assess origination and marketing functions and implement improvements to streamline workflows, strengthen coordination across teams, and define clear performance metrics
- Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with key clients and strategic industry partners
- Source and advance new business opportunities, markets, and contractual partnerships
- Integrate innovative technologies to enhance customer-facing products and services
- Act as a hands-on leader, guiding the team to successfully structure and close deals that meet growth, margin, and performance goals
- Drive initiatives to increase market penetration across both existing and new offerings while leading external marketing and communications efforts
- Evaluate marketing spend and optimize budget allocation to increase efficiency and lower customer acquisition costs
- Strengthen Salesforce usage, ensuring accurate activity tracking and reliable pipeline data
- Establish performance accountability through defined metrics, linking results to compensation and advancement
- Oversee the accuracy and consistency of sales, pipeline, and marketing reporting
- Collaborate with executive leadership to inform decisions on pricing, contract structures, and tailored solutions
- Contribute to executive leadership discussions and strategic decision-making
- Support investor engagement by preparing materials and presenting in key meetings
- Play an active role in shaping overall company strategy
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience guiding business development teams within the renewable energy sector, with deep involvement across sales strategy, execution, operations, customer success, marketing, partner ecosystems, and overall business planning
- Well-established network of corporate relationships and industry connections that can be leveraged to drive direct customer engagement and revenue growth
- At least ten to fifteen years of relevant experience, including a strong track record of leading or supporting the successful negotiation and closure of complex commercial agreements
- Familiarity with energy markets and power commodities is beneficial
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. electricity markets, including regional transmission organizations
- Self-driven leader with the ability to motivate teams and collaborate effectively across varying experience levels
- Strong strategic mindset with the ability to assess market dynamics, identify opportunities, and scale growth initiatives
- Demonstrated financial expertise, with a consistent focus on making decisions grounded in data and performance metrics
- Capability to develop and implement forward-looking business strategies that support expansion into new channels and markets
- Experience managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, with a clear ability to prioritize based on impact and return
- Highly analytical thinker with a data-first approach to execution and decision-making
- Excellent communication skills when engaging with clients, partners, and external stakeholders
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Solid foundation in project finance, valuation methodologies, and financial reporting principles
- Highly organized with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Advanced degree in business or a related field preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with a professional approach grounded in accountability, ownership, respect, and teamwork
