Apsida Life Science is currently partnering with a post-IPO biotechnology company seeking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer on a full-time, permanent basis.
With multiple oncology-focused clinical catalysts ahead and growing strategic partnering opportunities, the business is entering a phase where disciplined capital allocation, strong investor engagement, and financial execution will be critical to long-term value creation.
This is a high-impact C-suite opportunity, working directly with the CEO and Board to shape financial strategy, investor relations, capital markets activity, and overall operational discipline. The role would suit a hands-on finance executive who combines capital markets expertise with the ability to operate effectively in a lean, fast-moving biotech environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the CEO and Board to define and execute financial strategy, capital markets plans, and long-term value creation initiatives
- Lead company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes
- Develop and maintain integrated financial models linked to clinical milestones, regulatory timelines, and manufacturing scale-up plans
- Manage cash runway, scenario planning, and capital allocation across pipeline programmes
- Oversee SEC reporting, public company compliance, and external audit processes
- Ensure robust internal controls and adherence to GAAP and relevant regulatory standards
- Support equity raises, PIPEs, ATM programmes, debt financings, and other capital markets activities
- Prepare financial materials for Board meetings, investors, and key external stakeholders
- Partner cross-functionally with Clinical, Regulatory, CMC, Commercial, and Legal teams to ensure financial alignment with programme strategy
- Oversee ERP, accounting systems, and reporting infrastructure
- Build and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team
- Support strategic transactions, partnerships, and licensing opportunities through financial modelling and diligence leadership
Criteria:
- 12+ years of finance leadership experience within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or broader life sciences
- Public company experience, including SEC reporting and capital markets transactions
- Demonstrated success supporting equity offerings, PIPEs, ATM programmes, or other financing activities
- Experience evaluating, negotiating, or structuring strategic partnerships and licensing transactions
- Strong financial modelling skills linked to drug development programmes and regulatory milestones
- Deep understanding of capital planning, cash runway management, and funding strategy within clinical-stage biotech environments
- Ability to communicate complex financial strategy clearly and credibly to investors and Board members
- Proven ability to operate effectively within lean, fast-paced organisations
- Collaborative, hands-on leadership style with the ability to partner closely with scientific and operational leaders
