The Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center (JCC Denver) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to serve, strengthen, and inspire the community. For over 100 years, JCC Denver has served the Greater Denver metro area through educational, social, and cultural programs rooted in Jewish values. The JCC creates a vibrant and inclusive social hub with program areas focused on fostering connection, community, and well-being. Programs, include a robust aquatics, fitness, and tennis center, an early learning school, family and early childhood programs, arts and culture, day and overnight camps; and engagement programming for teens, young adults, seniors, and diverse communities.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and a strategic partner to the CEO. This is a builder’s role, responsible for defining processes, implementing systems, and strengthening the financial and operational infrastructure needed to support the organization’s continued growth. The CFO will provide both strategic leadership and hands-on operational oversight, moving fluidly between long-term planning and day-to-day execution.
The CFO holds broad accountability for the $16M organization’s fiscal health, including financial planning, operational efficiency, internal controls, and resource stewardship. In partnership with organizational leadership, the CFO will help shape long-range goals, develop strategies and policies, and drive execution across the enterprise. The role oversees the Controller, Director of IT, and Director of Facilities, and works alongside the CEO and COO to ensure strong integration across finance, operations, technology, and facilities to support long-term sustainability and impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership in shaping financial and administrative priorities, policies, and organizational direction to support sustainable growth
- Lead all financial management functions, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, reserves, liquidity, and long-term financial planning across operations, programs, and new initiatives
- Oversee financial reporting, performance metrics, and analysis, providing timely, accurate insights to the Board and Finance Committee
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and risk management systems, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements
- Partner with development and program teams to support revenue strategy, grant and contract management, and assessment of program financial sustainability and resource allocation
- Collaborate with the CEO and COO to oversee key organizational infrastructure, including IT, facilities, housekeeping, and security, ensuring operational efficiency and scalability
- Champion the use of technology, systems, and data analytics to improve decision-making and organizational performance
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, or related field required; MBA or CPA preferred
- 7+ years of senior finance and administration leadership in a $10M–$20M organization
- Experience in nonprofit financial management, including fund accounting, compliance, audits, and reporting (Form 990)
- Ability to manage diverse revenue streams and partner with development on campaigns, grants, and donor strategy
- Financial stewardship expertise, including cash flow management, expense control, and capital planning in fast-paced environments
- Ability to partner effectively with the C-suite and boards while translating complex financial information for non-finance stakeholders
- Strategic leader with strong proficiency in financial systems, analytics tools, CRMs, and data-driven reporting platforms to support decision making
- Experience leading high-performing teams in entrepreneurial, mission-driven environments while driving growth, transformation, and operational improvement
