Job Description
The Chief Financial Officer is an enterprise leader for financial, commercial and systems transformation, partnering with the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team to drive strategy design and implementation across Synergy.
This role is positioned as a true enterprise leadership position, requiring the ability to shape and execute strategy across financial, operational, and organisational dimensions while making confident decisions under uncertainty. It carries full accountability for financial and commercial leadership, including governance of capital investments, budgeting, forecasting, risk, treasury, and strategic advisory to the Board, CEO, and government stakeholders. The role also oversees supply chain performance, driving cost efficiency, resilience, and compliance within a regulated environment. A key priority is leading finance transformation, embedding continuous improvement and leveraging data, digital, and automation to enhance decision-making and performance.
The Successful Applicant
Reporting to the CEO, the successful CFO will demonstrate:
- Enterprise leadership and financial strategy: You will be a highly experienced senior finance executive with demonstrated success supporting enterprise level strategy, planning and delivery, known for financial and commercial thought leadership and the confidence to engage at Board, CEO and Government levels.
- Financial and commercial leadership You will have proven experience in finance leading large multi-disciplined finance teams in large complex organisations.
- Supply Chain: You will have experience providing strategic and financial oversight of end-to-end supply chain operations.
- Finance transformation and continuous improvement: You will have the ability to transform the finance function to build a contemporary, insight-driven, high impact capability team
- Capability, culture and leadership: Be able to build deep, sustainable functional capability across finance, developing leaders who can operate strategically and enterprise wide. A values-led, systems thinking leader who aligns with Synergy's values, purpose and vision.
- Governance, stakeholder and government engagement: The successful CFO will have strong experience within a Government Trading Entity, regulated utility or strong understanding of public sector/GTE operating environments.
