The energy transition needs people who can figure things out
Commercial transport is one of the hardest parts of the energy transition challenge. It’s complex, fragmented, and moving fast, and the infrastructure to support it barely exists yet. That’s exactly why we’re building it at Aegis Energy.
Aegis Energy is developing a network of 50+ clean energy hubs across the UK, giving truck and van fleets genuine, practical access to electric charging, hydrogen, HVO and bio-CNG. We’re not waiting for the transition to happen. We focus on meeting the demands of the commercial vehicle sector.
We’re looking for an exceptional Commercial, AI & Business Operations graduate to join us. Someone who is energised by hard problems, comfortable with ambiguity, and ready to do work that actually matters from day one.
About the role
This is a graduate position on our commercial team designed for someone who wants to sit close to the decisions that shape a high-growth business, and who can use AI and modern tooling to operate at a level well beyond their years.
You will work alongside our Commercial Managers, Commercial Associate, Business Development Director and one of our Founders — a team with deep backgrounds in infrastructure, energy and finance, who are actively shaping the strategy and direction of the business. You will have direct exposure to how priorities are set, decisions are made, and time and capital are allocated across the company.
Your remit is broad. You will contribute to commercial work – strategy, analysis, market research, and supporting the team on the projects that drive the business forward. You will lead on AI and business operations – identifying, building and rolling out AI agents, automations and systems that make the company faster and lighter. You will also provide direct business operations support to the Founder and senior leadership team – the kind of high-trust, high-context work that gives you a front-row seat to the running of the business.
You will join us alongside our incoming graduate analysts and take part in the same structured training programme, development plan, and graduate cohort experience.
Some examples of what you will be working on
• Commercial work — contribute to commercial projects across strategy, analysis, market research and the broader commercial agenda, working directly with the Commercial Managers, Commercial Associate, BD Director and Founder.
• AI & business operations — identify, build and roll out AI agents, automations and tools that reduce friction and create capacity across the commercial team and the wider business. Act as an internal point of contact for AI tool adoption — trialling new tools, sharing best practices, and upskilling colleagues.
• Systems & process — own and improve core systems used by the commercial team, design SOPs for recurring processes, and build lightweight dashboards and reporting that give the team real-time visibility of what matters.
• Cross-functional projects — contribute to business-wide initiatives alongside the rest of the graduate cohort, gaining exposure to engineering, development, operations, finance and corporate teams.
• Business leadership support — provide direct support to the Founder and senior team across diaries, correspondence, travel and office operations, and continuously find ways to compress this work using AI and automation.
This role is a launchpad. Over the medium term, there is a clear pathway to progress into a dedicated commercial, operations or AI-focused role within the business as you build credibility and the business grows.
You will thrive here if
• You have a strong academic record from a top university, ideally with a STEM or coding background (e.g. engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or similar).
• You are fluent in AI and automation tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and similar) — not just occasional use, but real evidence of using them to operate more effectively in your own work.
• You are a clear, structured thinker who can break down ambiguous problems and find practical ways forward.
• You are organised, detail-oriented and reliable, with the judgement to know what matters and the bias to action to get things done.
• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the confidence to hold your own with senior people.
• You are genuinely interested in the energy transition and what it will take to get it right.
• You have evidence of the right to work in the UK at the expected start date of the role.
