We are seeking a detail-oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide executive leadership and financial management and strategic planning. This position will report directly to the Managing Partner and oversee our Finance Department.
Position Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer will lead and oversee all facets of the finance department including financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and strategy. The Managing Partner will ensure long-term direction while the Chief Financial Officer will maintain stability and accountability in day-to-day execution.
This role requires prior law firm experience in a leadership capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual budgets and revenue forecasts.
- KPI driven performance management for both attorneys and paralegals.
- Dashboard development/improvement.
- Oversee client invoicing and AR/AP.
- Handle collections and aged receivables management.
- Perform expense/overhead reduction analysis.
- Maintain and track revenue origination and attorney originations.
- Reconcile general ledger.
- Prepare profitability analyses by partner and by department.
- Prepare monthly P/L reports to include YOY.
- Handle employee benefit plans including health, dental, vision and ancillary, FSA, retirement, coordinating with TPAs.
- Manage the firm’s insurances, including Professional Liability, General Liability, Auto & Umbrella, cyber, life insurance, EPLI, ERISA, Disability and Workers Comp, PFL, and COBRA.
- Oversee all accounting operations including deposits, expenses, and weekly client invoices.
- Review employee and contract partner compensation packages to present to the Managing Partner.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring teams are productive and processes are optimized.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related required. CPA preferred.
- At least 8-10 years of law firm experience in a leadership capacity.
- Proven track record of successful fiscal management, budgeting, overseeing a team, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
- Clio Manage and Clio Billing experience is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
