Drive growth, acquisitions and commercial performance.
Gold Coast based executive role with influence across a growing national business.
About our client
Our client is a well-established and highly respected contractor operating across civil construction, mining, infrastructure and asset intensive services.
Having built a strong reputation through disciplined delivery, trusted client relationships and long-term investment in people and equipment, the business is now entering its next phase of growth.
Led by an engaged and highly accessible executive team the organisation combines the scale and capability of a major contractor with the agility and entrepreneurial mindset often lost in larger corporate environments.
Decisions are made quickly, ideas are welcomed and leaders are empowered to influence outcomes across the business.
With a strong balance sheet, active acquisition strategy and a clear vision for growth it is a business where experienced executives can genuinely shape direction rather than simply report on performance.
The opportunity
This is far more than a traditional finance leadership role.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the executive leadership team and Board, the role of Chief Financial Officer in this organisation will play a critical role in shaping the future growth of the business.
While maintaining oversight of governance, reporting and financial performance, the focus of this role is on driving enterprise value, supporting acquisitions, improving margin performance and helping identify new opportunities for growth.
You will be a key contributor to strategic decision making and will be providing commercial insight across acquisitions, expansion opportunities, capital deployment, funding structures and operational performance.
The role will also lead relationships with banking partners, auditors, advisors and joint venture stakeholders while ensuring the business remains well positioned to capitalise on future opportunities.
This is a rare opportunity to join a business at a pivotal point in its growth journey where your influence will extend well beyond the finance function.
Benefits and working arrangements
This is a permanent executive leadership position based on the Gold Coast.
The remuneration package includes an executive level base salary plus superannuation and short-term incentive opportunities aligned to business performance.
While the executive team values collaboration and visibility, there is flexibility to work from home when required to support productivity and personal commitments.
The role also offers exposure to Board level decision making, acquisition activity and strategic growth initiatives that will shape the future direction of the organisation.
Most importantly, this is an environment where strong ideas are welcomed and where the right person will have the autonomy and executive support to drive meaningful change.
A bit about you
You enjoy looking beyond the numbers and identifying opportunities that create long term value.
You are comfortable challenging assumptions, influencing senior stakeholders and helping leaders make informed commercial decisions.
You take ownership of outcomes and naturally balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
You enjoy working closely with executive teams, banks, investors, advisors and operational leaders and build trusted relationships that support growth and performance.
You are motivated by the opportunity to help shape acquisitions, improve profitability, optimise capital deployment and contribute to broader business strategy.
You are energised by environments where your recommendations can be implemented quickly and where your influence can be seen across the entire organisation.
Desired skills and experience
You will bring demonstrated experience as a Chief Financial Officer or senior finance executive within civil construction, mining, infrastructure, engineering, resources or another asset intensive contracting environment.
Experience supporting acquisitions, integration activities, capital management, forecasting and strategic growth initiatives will be highly regarded.
Exposure to complex funding arrangements, equipment intensive operations and project-based businesses will also be important.
Beyond technical capability, our client is seeking a commercially minded leader who understands how contracting businesses create value and who can translate financial insight into practical business outcomes.
You will be confident engaging with Boards and executive teams while maintaining strong leadership across your finance function.
This role will suit an executive who combines commercial acumen, strategic thinking and strong stakeholder engagement with a genuine desire to help grow and improve a successful business.
This is an opportunity to step into a highly influential executive position where your contribution will directly impact profitability, growth, acquisitions and long-term business performance.
For the right person, it offers the rare combination of executive visibility, commercial influence and the ability to help shape the future direction of a growing organisation.
