Chief Financial Officer – Multi-Location Automotive Group (Cleveland)
A well-established, privately held automotive retail group in Ohio is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead our finance and accounting operations. Company identity will be disclosed to candidates who advance in the process.
About the Opportunity Our organization operates multiple new and used vehicle franchises across the greater Cleveland market. We are seeking a strategic, hands-on CFO to oversee financial operations, drive profitability initiatives, and partner directly with ownership and store-level leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations across four dealership locations, including financial statements, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management
- Partner with General Managers and department heads to drive store-level profitability and operational efficiency
- Manage relationships with floor plan lenders, banking partners, and outside CPA firms
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer financial reporting requirements (factory statements, composite reporting)
- Lead month-end close, financial statement preparation, and variance analysis across all rooftops
- Develop and monitor KPIs across sales, service, parts, and F&I departments
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and internal controls
- Manage inventory floor plan, aging, and curtailment
- Provide strategic financial guidance to ownership on expansion, capital allocation, and risk management
- Supervise and develop controllers/office managers at each location
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred
- 7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with multi-location automotive retail experience required
- Strong knowledge of dealership accounting platforms (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar DMS)
- Experience with factory/manufacturer financial statements across multiple brands
- Proven track record managing floor plan financing and lender relationships
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
- High degree of discretion and professionalism
