Job Description
As a key member of Atlantic Health’s executive leadership team, the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as the senior steward of the health system’s financial strategy and performance. This leader oversees all financial functions, including long‑term financial planning, systemwide performance management, strategic growth support, revenue optimization, and operational efficiency. The CFO ensures consistent financial standards across all facilities, maintains rigorous regulatory and bond compliance, and builds a scalable financial infrastructure that supports both current operations and future expansion.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned healthcare finance executive with deep operational expertise, strong regulatory and bond compliance knowledge, and a demonstrated ability to partner effectively with the CEO, Board of Trustees, and executive leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
The Chief Financial Officer will provide strong and steady leadership to maximize the financial performance of Atlantic Health. Specific duties include:
- Provides strategic leadership and oversight for all financial operations of Atlantic Health, including cash flow management, treasury functions, long‑range financial planning, forecasting, and systemwide budgeting. Directs banking and auditor relationships; ensures timely and compliant regulatory and tax filings; and oversees core finance operations such as accounts payable/receivable, revenue cycle performance, managed care contracting and compliance, and the accurate and timely monthly close of financial statements.
- Establishes annual operating and capital budgets with a balanced approach to ensure Organization’s overall financial success and maintains positive bond ratings, with a careful focus on long-term cash flow and debt capacity.
- Demonstrates deep expertise in the complex and rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, guiding the organization toward sustainable growth, operational excellence, and long‑term financial strength. Develops clear insights into the operating margins required to support strategic priorities and capital needs over time, while proactively assessing market, regulatory, and reimbursement dynamics. Maintains a strong understanding of the unique healthcare, economic, and regulatory nuances within the State of New Jersey to inform sound decision‑making and systemwide strategy.
- Develop, evaluate, monitor, and communicate strategic financial objectives, ensuring consistency and alignment with overall corporate strategic objectives.
- Effectively and professionally communicate the company’s financial plan to all relevant constituents, internally and externally.
- Manage Board, Credit, Credit Agency, Investor and Partner financial relationships.
- Serve as an engaged and collaborative member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing proactive financial advice to the Board of Trustees, Chief Executive Officer, and system leadership broadly.
- Partner with the Chief Executive Officer to evaluate and optimize affiliate arrangements, including physician affiliation agreements and third‑party payor contracts, ensuring financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and alignment with the health system’s strategic objectives.
- Coordinate the overall financial planning process, encompassing a broad range of business portfolio analysis and review of individual projects and investments. Develop policies and procedures to improve business processes and enhance productivity.
- Manage, develop, and lead an effective, responsive financial organization, with an open style of communication and analytical approach to business.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and inspiration for others, acting with integrity, transparency and trust.
- Formulate and synthesize financial and statistical reporting.
- Review draft financial reports and ensure accuracy prior to release of audited financial statements.
- Leads all external audit activities, ensuring efficient coordination with independent auditors and the accurate, timely completion of all audit engagements across the health system.
- Evaluates audit reports and partners with executive, clinical, and operational leaders to implement corrective actions, strengthen internal controls, and drive continuous improvement.
- Uses audit insights to enhance financial integrity, operational effectiveness, and overall organizational performance, supporting the long‑term success and sustainability of the health system.
- Prepare and evaluate performance reports and share with the Atlantic Health leadership team. Collaboratively work with leaders to set goals and targets for health system leaders and departments.
- Ensures full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including IRS laws, CMS and other healthcare‑specific regulations, governmental reporting standards, SEC rules (as applicable), and all financial, tax, and operational compliance obligations governing the health system.
- Lead a team of finance colleagues in all human resource-related initiatives including but not limited to; performance management; education and development; selection and retention; workforce planning; coaching and counseling; and supporting activities that promote colleague engagement and satisfaction.
- Lead financial resource functions including but not limited to; managing expenses; preparing, monitoring and executing within limits of the budget; monitoring productivity standards; managing the purchasing process and all decisions related to the finances for the area of responsibility.
- Lead/support change and process improvement initiatives including but not limited to strive for standard, efficient and value-added processes; communicate a clear vision; influence and motivate others; and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Professional Experience And Qualifications
The CFO serves as a senior executive leader in a large, complex integrated health system. In partnership with the CEO and executive team, the CFO must have the confidence and skills/abilities to lead Atlantic Health to consistent strong financial performance and long-term success.
The CFO will possess outstanding communication, listening and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish trust, credibility and positive rapport with a broad set of executives and constituencies. He/she must be current on healthcare, financial trends, policies, and regulations, both locally and nationally.
Background And Experiences
- Minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare financial management, including revenue cycle, third‑party reimbursement, budgeting, financial operations, and performance management; at least five years in a senior leadership role within a large, complex integrated health system.
- Advanced analytical, strategic, and decision‑making capabilities, with the ability to organize, plan, and coordinate financial and operational activities while contributing to long‑term systemwide strategic planning.
- Demonstrated success driving consistent, high‑performing financial results for a large healthcare enterprise, with a strong command of key operational and financial metrics.
- Deep technical expertise across all core finance functions, with particular strength in revenue cycle leadership, given the financial pressures facing not‑for‑profit healthcare providers.
- Experience evaluating and structuring mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and affiliations, including financial modeling, due diligence, and integration planning.
- Highly skilled negotiator capable of building and sustaining strong relationships with payors, physicians, vendors, investment institutions, and other key stakeholders.
