A New York State nonprofit serving individuals impacted by homelessness and offering innovative youth programming is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join its senior leadership team. This is a true seat at the executive table - you'll shape strategy well beyond the finance function while leading the fiscal health of a mission-driven organization.
The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for:
- Serving as principal financial advisor to the Executive Director and staff lead to the Board's Finance & Audit Committee
- Directing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and GAAP compliance
- Overseeing the financial administration of a diverse federal, state, and city government contract portfolio, including claiming, cost allocation, and indirect cost recovery
- Leading annual budgeting, multi-year forecasting, cash management, and the annual audit and Single Audit
- Supervising and developing a high-performing finance team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field (CPA and/or MBA preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive financial management experience, including 5+ years at a senior leadership level (CFO, Deputy CFO, Controller, or VP of Finance)
- Experience leading finance for a nonprofit with an operating budget of $25M+
- Substantial government contract finance experience, including reimbursement-based claiming, cost allocation, and Uniform Guidance/Single Audit requirements
Salary range: $180,000 - $225,000
