About the Role
The Chief Financial Officer will lead the organization's financial strategy, accounting operations, financial planning, treasury, cash management, risk management, compliance, and business intelligence initiatives.
Working closely with executive leadership, the CFO will provide strategic guidance that supports sustainable growth, operational excellence, profitability, and long-term shareholder value.
This executive leadership role requires exceptional business acumen, strong operational partnership, and the ability to influence organizational strategy through insightful financial leadership.
What You'll Do
Executive Leadership
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the President and Executive Leadership Team
- Develop and execute the company's long-term financial strategy
- Evaluate acquisitions, partnerships, geographic expansion, and new business opportunities
- Build financial models supporting executive decision-making
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long-range planning
- Develop executive dashboards and key performance indicators
- Analyze profitability, project performance, labor utilization, and operational trends
- Deliver recommendations that improve EBITDA, cash flow, and operational efficiency
Accounting & Finance
- Oversee:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Payroll
- Fixed Assets
- Revenue Recognition
- Job Costing
- Work-in-Progress (WIP) Accounting
- Month-End & Year-End Close
- Ensure GAAP compliance and accurate financial reporting
- Maintain strong internal controls and governance
Cash Management & Capital Planning
- Optimize working capital and liquidity
- Manage treasury operations and banking relationships
- Lead financing strategies and capital planning
- Oversee debt management and covenant compliance
Risk Management
- Lead enterprise risk management initiatives
- Oversee audits, tax compliance, insurance strategy, and financial controls
- Ensure regulatory and lender compliance
Operational Partnership
Collaborate with Operations, Sales, Project Management, Service, and Human Resources to:
- Improve profitability
- Increase gross margins
- Enhance forecasting accuracy
- Optimize pricing strategies
- Improve operational efficiency
- Support scalable company growth
Leadership
- Lead and mentor the Accounting & Finance team
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Develop future finance leaders through coaching and succession planning
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- CPA required or strongly preferred
- MBA preferred
- 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
- 7+ years in senior executive financial leadership
- Extensive experience leading accounting and finance operations within project-based organizations
- Deep expertise in:
- GAAP
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Treasury Management
- Cash Flow Forecasting
- Revenue Recognition
- Job Costing
- WIP Accounting
- Internal Controls
- Strategic Planning
Preferred
- Experience in commercial construction, technology integration, commercial AV, engineering, manufacturing, or project-based service organizations
- Mergers & Acquisitions experience
- Private ownership or private equity experience
- ERP implementation and optimization
- Experience presenting financial results to Boards and executive leadership
