Chief Financial Officer
A growing organization in the government contracting and national security sector is seeking a strategic and operationally focused Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance function of a ~$250M organization operating under a hybrid private and employee-owned structure.
This executive role will partner closely with the CEO and leadership team to drive financial discipline, sustainable growth, profitability, operational efficiency, and long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial leadership and partner with executive leadership on growth, profitability, operational efficiency, and corporate strategy.
- Lead all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, audit, tax, contracts, cash management, and risk management.
- Ensure compliance with applicable government contracting requirements, including FAR, DFARS, and DCAA standards.
- Oversee program finance, job costing, indirect rate development, pricing, and margin analysis across government contracts, including cost-plus, fixed-price, and time-and-materials structures.
- Lead annual operating plans, multi-year financial models, forecasting processes, and enterprise financial reporting.
- Oversee financial responsibilities associated with an ESOP and hybrid ownership structure, including valuation, trustee coordination, regulatory compliance, and employee communications.
- Provide financial oversight of corporate real estate strategy, including facility acquisitions, leasing, renewals, and related financial reporting.
- Manage relationships with banking partners, auditors, legal counsel, and other external stakeholders while maintaining a strong financial control environment.
- Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, systems, reporting, and operational controls.
- Deliver actionable financial insights supporting pricing decisions, capital investments, strategic initiatives, and business growth.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance, accounting, and contracts organization.
Ideal Background
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required; MBA, CPA, or CMA strongly preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including at least 7 years in a senior executive or divisional CFO capacity.
- Experience within a government contracting organization of comparable scale, ideally within the $150M–$500M range.
- Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and DCAA audit requirements.
- Experience with government contract accounting, pricing, financial planning, operational finance, cash management, and risk mitigation.
- Experience within an ESOP or hybrid ownership environment strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to operate strategically while maintaining a hands-on approach to financial operations and controls.
- Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to transparency and accountability.
Compensation
$285,000–$350,000 base salary, with the final offer determined by experience, education, skills, responsibilities, and other relevant factors.
